seven a night isn't too bad, but I guess it depends on the person. I average around 5 on a good night, and as low as 2 on bad ones. Insomnia sucks.

If you can, try to relax before oyu go to bed. Whatevers on your mind get it off. Sometimes writing helps, other people talking to someone helps. Whatever floats your boat.

Have a routine if you can. Humans are creatures of habit, having a routine makes things a little less stressful and helps you relax at least a little.

I hear if you tense your legs up then focus on slowly relaxing each individual muscle it helps you fall asleep quickly and easily.

I wish i could get 7 a night, you're lucky to be getting that much. I guess everyone's different though. Don't use sleeping medication, or anything else to help. I was on Nyquil for a couple weeks a little while ago just to get to sleep and I finally pulled away from it. One of my more regrettable life decisions was depending on that to help me sleep.

Routines don't help me, but maybe they'll help you. I always make sure I feel prepared for the next day before I go to bed or i'll get really anxious. Also, I've found being physically exhausted helps a lot. Go for a run or something earlier if you want to tire yourself out. Tensing and releasing muscles helps me sometimes as well.

All in all, sleep is a psychological thing. You need to be calm in the head to fall asleep calmly and sleep throughout the night. Just don't be anxious about sleeping and you'll start to sleep better.

Here is what I reccomend for you:

Get ready for bed about 45 minitues before you want to go to sleep. Lay down and read a book, or maybe take a quick bath. About 25 minitues before you go to sleep, take Melatonin. It is a natural drug that naturally occures in your body (Melatonin can be found in turkey and milk.) Take 1-2 of them. After 25 minitues, go to sleep. If you don't fall asleep in 45 minitues, get back up and read a little more. Try to get a little more relaxed and try again.

Hope this works for you.

And by the way, 7 hours isn't bad, it's actually pretty good in this day and age. I don't think that the sleep is causing your sickness, but an extra hour or two wouldn't hurt.

Yea you'll live on 7 hours a night lol. As for being sick, your body is probably just adjusting to less sleep, and will most likely go away in like a week or so. But if it progressively gets worse or you're getting less and less sleep, you should go to the doctor. And sleeping meds aren't all bad, as long as you use them exactly as directed, and don't abuse them.

Im hyperactive so I have trouble sleeping because of so many thoughts going thru my mind somtimes. My parents bought me a alarm clock that has like nature sounds on it, rain, crickets, thunder stuff like that. its kool because you can set it for like 15 or 30 minutes then it stops. it really works great for me.:)

I find that lavender helps, to those you suffer insomnia.

You can get lavender spray, little lavender bean bags, lavender oil to it on your temples, etc.

Don't eat anything or drink anything except water for 2 hours before going to bed. Once you're in bed don't start thinking about everything you did during the day or will do tomorrow. Keep your mind a blank. :yeah:
