is anyone on BC for reasons other than they dont want to get preggers? My doc gave it to me to regulate my periods but it's been clearing up my acne and giving me shorter periods than what i have had before. Hey im not complaining but does anyone else get the results i have?

Although I'm not a girl, I'm not going to tell you that your results are not common. I remember on one of the Yaz commercials it says that it may help clear acne. The reason behind this is because Birth Control is a hormone -obviously right?- there are a few types that are FDA approved, including Yaz. Basically, sebum is an oil that comes from our hair and skin, too much is bad and kills cells and clogs our pores. Acne develops, blah blah. Anyways, the acne is usually a hormone thing and by taking birth control, it controls the hormone androgen in the body which is the result of oil glands over producing sebum. With the lighter periods thing, I'm not a female so I don't know too much about this but I believe that once your body gets used to the hormonal change, your menstrual cycle speeds up. May need some correction there. Anyways sweetie, take care. I hope I didn't intrude, btw. <3

Yup, I don't have sex but I take birth control. I have really bad acne and the birth control really helped with that. And it helped to regulate my periods.

Yea I've been on BC since like I was 15ish, and it wasn't for sexual reasons. Without gettin too technical and sciency, BC just helps regulate the increased hormone levels caused by puberty and whatnot. I mean you'll be fine without it, but it won't hurt you in the least to take it. It's your choice on whether you take it or not, but don't be scared of it......there is the social stigma of taking it though, so if you do decide to take it, I wouldn't exactly brag about it

I've been on birth control for a while now. I went on it before I ever had sex. I heard it would help with my periods and it does. So yepp. Same results. ;D

I've been on BC for the past five years purely to help me cope with my periods.

Until I started taking them I suffered really heavy periods, with extremely bad cramps and very tender, sore and swollen breasts, and although I still do suffer it is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, and so my periods are now much more bearable.

Of course as I am also in a very stable and loving relationship they (BC) also serve another vital purpose in preventing me becoming pregnant.
