phpbb cookies

crap! its been buggin me for a while now...

the phpbb cookies are great n all, cuz they keep ya logged in, but i really hate the fact that if u DO NOT log out and u close the browsing session (by closing IE, netscape, FF, aol, or whatever) and then go back to this forum, ALLL of the topics are marked as read! its freakin annoying! >.<

i dont like to log out and have to log back in jus have the correct read and unread markings... and no, i dont wanna use a password manager either, those things take time to load...

anyone know if the new version of phpbb corrects this flaw?

how is it supposed to know when you close your browser?

Because your browser is communicating with the server. And your browser also holds te session.

ya but if i do jack for an hour, then all of a sudden my comp crashes, how will it know

If your comp crashes, everything will be lost. Like unsaved documents. These will be dropped anyways. They can't be saved, so they're unsaved documents.

ehhhhhh.... (canadian) anyway, all i wanted to know is if there is a fix for this in later phpbb versions or if its jus a flaw in the sql database or hosting server.
