Conservative leader David Cameron has become the new UK prime minister after the resignation of Gordon Brown.

Mr Cameron, 43, entered 10 Downing Street after travelling to Buckingham Palace to formally accept the Queen's request to form the next government.

He said he aimed to form a "proper and full coalition" with the Lib Dems to provide "strong, stable government".

His party won the most seats in the general election last week, but not an overall majority.

In a speech outside his new Downing Street home, Mr Cameron said he and Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg would "put aside party differences and work hard for the common good and the national interest".

In other words he's going to screw the country up worse than it is already.

We have had the most corrupt and dishonest government imaginable. It was time for a change.

Brown had a shite time in government, what was worse was the majority of it wasn't his fault.

Brown was never going to be PM again after this election however Cameron is going to favour the rich more and more...

He was part of the cabinet that gave us the 45 minute warning. He had personal responsibility for our troops not having adequate kit. He was chancellor during the worst financial crisis anyone can remember. And none of this was his fault?

Give the man a chance, lets wait and see.

Blair bunked out and left Brown to deal wit the army in tatters. He took responsibility but it was actually Blair for sending our troops in with shite kit.

He wasn't actually the chancellor at the time, Darling was. He may have privatised the bank of England and turned a blind eye to certain things but the banks really got us into this mess not gogs Brown.

I think Patrick's just defending Brown because he's Scottish :P jkjk

I think that the UK should move away from the US, slowly. We did get you into Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't know much about British politics, but I have an instinctual aversion to the word "conservative.". Anyways, I hope it all works out for the best

I feel sorry for Gordon Brown. He inherited a mess from Blair and failed to fix it. He was flawed and lacked leadership qualities, too reliant on Mandelson and Campbell, failed to perform in the TV debates, destroyed our banking system, presided over the expenses scandel. However, his resignation speech showed great dignity from a man who has been at the top of British politics from 20 years and thats how Brown should be remembered- a decent, honest, hardworking individual striving to do his best for Britain.
Cameron's gov't wouldn't last. Clegg and Osborne are lightweights. General Election within 2 years

Some people are even speculating that this government isn't supposed to last. I heard someone say that Labour might be letting Cameron come in, do the unpopular stuff like cut spending, then get him out when the economy comes back

Cameron is great in some aspects he has a lot of Tony Blair'isms within him, he practically copied every media aspect of him.

He's nothing new and he's nothing special, he'll end up realising that his government is weak and will screw up the coalition by doing sweet f all for Clegg and Labour will be back in power by next election.

I'm not that keen on any party apart from the Lib Dems.

I like Cameron, he's very different for previous tory leaders. Nick Clegg as Deputy PM is a diaster. He is a total idiot and pointless. Osborne as Chancellor was a blow, most were hoping for Vince Cable or Ken Clarke. And I doubt this coalition will last
