A soldier with a noose around his neck
Because they spent too long
Fucking with his genes,
Injecting him with kerosene and copper
To see how his body would react.
They lit him on fire and still he survived,
He was invincible, but he did not see
The world the way they did.
He saw the rusted gates of Hell
Where they saw the golden gates of Opportunity,
He saw the flames rising from the sea
Where they saw eternal oceans and a means to
End any chance at world peace.
They made him to be a Titan,
Or so they proclaimed,
They made him to be a visage
To a future of death and destruction,
A passage from the past to that future,
A transition from beginning to end,
But he saw none of it.
Now he hangs from the ceiling,
Stool kicked out from underneath him,
Gasping for air, wondering why it hurts
So much to suffocate
And grow closer to Death,
When being alive
Feels like the intense pain brought on
By injecting one’s bloodstream
With ground flakes of garlic.
Because they spent too long
Fucking with his genes,
Injecting him with kerosene and copper
To see how his body would react.
They lit him on fire and still he survived,
He was invincible, but he did not see
The world the way they did.
