Starlight Suffusion

Bang and the midnight sun
Has gone off into the distance
Never to be seen again;
Until morning.

But of course it is far too soon
To be pondering the morning hours
When sleep should have taken place
At least two hours prior to whatever
Time it is now.

It is too late to be awake but the stars
Suffuse the window panes
And enter through the house’s porous skin
Staining my eyes a lurid yellow.

I cannot help but stare into the darkness,
Misled to believe that within darkness there is hope,
But bar none, there is none,
Unless you count the stars, so bright,
But so potent, so intense and focused
They make one wonder
Why man has not one star
In his far reaching, scoffed at repertoire.
