Hi, I've asked a couple of my friends on here if I should start a thread. They told me I should. I just would like some advice on what to do, how to face up to the coming months. I'm scared, I admit it. Guys, I've got leukaemia. I've only known for a couple of weeks. Now what?

First of all, dont give up hope. I dont know what the doctors have said to you or what treatment is proposed, but stay as positive as you can and fight it every step of the way. Talk to me any time you need to.
Love & best wishes,
Nick

First I'd like to say thanks for the support, you guys are awesome. I've had loads of PMs too, thanks.
This afternoon I had a talk with my uncle and he explained a few things. He said that the cure rate for what I have is better than 50 percent, but then said the doctors say than mine is not as bad as that and that they put my chances as better than 70 - 30. I told him, no way! I don't accept less than 99 percent!!!! So, I'm going into hospital on Tuesday for tests and the start of treatment. They expect me to be there for a couple of weeks. A pathetic one percent is not going to get me! I asked if I could have my computer, but they said better not. I'll look in again tomorrow evening just to say 'hasta la vista'. I promise I'll be here in a couple of weeks, well on the way to recovery. God bless you all, till tomorrow evening, Karl

We will all be looking forward to hearing from you in a couple of weeks!

Good luck with the treatment. Its good that you have remained fairly positive, which I would probably fail to do.
Look forward to hearing from you again! :)

Speaking as someone who studies medicine, the single most important thing is your attitude. You choose to fight, you can win. Not saying it'll be easy, but you can do it. I've seen one woman I know be handed a zero % chance of survival with six months to live. That was two years ago. She's now back at work and in remission. Your will power is stronger than any disease.

First I want to say thanks for the support and the birthday good wishes.
Now for the part I've not been looking forward to.
I was diagnosed with leukaemia two years ago, not last month. I've been in remission for about a year. Last month we received a letter from the hospital to tell me I had to go for a check up. I panicked and told you guys that I had just been diagnosed. I thought they would tell me I was still ill. I got the all-clear and then realised what I had done.
I know saying I'm sorry is not enough, I was wrong to lie. My main worry now is that you'll shun me. I would very much like to continue being a member of VT.
Please believe me when I say if I could turn back the clock I would.

Karl, I dont think you have much to apologise for. You had a scare, that's all. Its not as if you've been playing us along, well not as I see it anyway. I'm just glad you've been given the all-clear. Welcome back.

Yeah man, you don't have anything to apologize for. Panic is a natural reaction to thinking you might be sick again. You didn't try to hurt, use, or abuse anyone so why should we be upset?
