This is more of a question, and less of a problem.

I am 5"11 and I only weigh 125 pounds. I'm not questioning whether that's a healthy weight or not, I'm perfectly healthy and I play sports and feel great. The only thing is I'm so god damn skinny! :D I eat a lot, yet I don't gain any weight. I'm not sure if my metabolism is just super fast or what. I'd really like to gain some weight just so I don't look like a starved child anymore. Any ideas as to how to gain weight in a healthy way? Should I just wait for my body to "fill out?"

You do have a fast metabolism by the looks of it.

I'd go to your doctor & ask for advice on how to gain weight healthily.

You could just wait for your body to fill out, and that would personally be my suggestion to you. Enjoy your fast metabolism while you can. In the next few years it's going to slow down probably dramatically and you won't be able to eat the way you do now. You're honestly fine at the weight you're at now in my opinion. You have a BMI of 17.4 which is just a tad underweight based on the categories and such, but it's not at any level that you should fret over. As long as you're happy with where you're at now, then there's really no need to try and gain weight.

If you are dead-set on gaining weight and trying to look a bit 'better' in terms of body weight, then you can always increase your caloric intake a tad bit more. Just try to steer clear of eating too many fats and unhealthy carbohydrates. Stick to foods which are decent for you, and instead of aiming for the typical two-thousand calories per day diet, perhaps try to intake 2500 calories a day.

If you'd rather take on muscle mass, then just set up a daily work out routine. Sit ups, cardio, bench presses, etc. etc. There's a ton of different work outs you could do to build some muscle. Just find some routine that fits you and one that won't make you bored so easily. Perhaps go running with a friend, or swimming every other day. Whatever floats your boat. (: This would definitely fill out your body though more-so than eating more calories. It all depends on what type of body you're looking for for yourself.

Thank you for your help. I've been planning on starting up a weekly weight routine just to get some muscle mass on me. ;) I think that should help. And I highly doubt I will grow anymore so I guess it's time for me to fill out. :P

IMPORTANT: Do not eat lots of fatty foods to try and gain weight! You don't want fat! You want muscle! You have a very high metabolism, and that is good, but it will slow as you age. It sounds like you do a lot of cardio-like exercises (running around a lot, walking a lot, bicycling and stuff like that). If you want to gain wait, try not to do as much cardio outside of your sports. (not saying cardio is bad, but when you do a lot of cardio, you lose both muscle and fat mass) Resistance weight training is what you need. You need to do it 3-5 times a week, rotating between working your upper and lower body. (for me one day it's chest, one day its arms, one day it's legs) (btw, Signing up at a gym is best) You also need to get a lot of protein, especially right after (15 mins) working out (you can eat protein bars(every grocery store has 'em), or make shakes with protien, there are many different options) because you are 16 and you are not completely done growing. Calories are good, but watch what you are eating. You can be skinny and still be very unhealthy. When you get older and your metabolism goes down, you will start gettin' chubby'. Stay away from fast foods and sugary/fatty foods and eat a lot of fruits and veggies. When you find yourself hungry, try drinking a glass of water. For some reason, that works for me XD. If you eat healthy and exercise, your body will actually distribute that weight (the muscle and the fat) properly, and you will not look as "skinny." Stay away from fried foods and get grilled foods! (When i need some fast take-out, I get the boneless grilled chicken breast from KFC with honey mustard, MMMMM) If you are healthy (eating and exercising right) then your body is MOST LIKELY normal, and you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

well your like my father he is really thin but yet he eats alot and never gains a pound. it would have to be your matabilism, it is really fast alot faster than any other average weighted persons.

If you go to the gym, your muscles will get bigger and stronger but you'll never be fat even If you eat a lot. Because your metabolism is very fast, you poop right after you eat.
A lot of people'd love to be like you.

Your fine. because later your metabolism WILL slow....on that note if you start eating more it is likely you gain more weight than what you wanted.

As much as I love watching mods be mods, there's this fancy thing called PM'ing. Sounds awesome, right?

Also, this is somewhat a different question. How many times a week is a good amount to lift weights? I don't want to put too much strain and stress on my body.

I don't want to put too much strain and stress on my body.I would recommend going on a routine of around three days a week, with days in between. So for instance weight lift on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That way you allow your muscles room to relax and grow, rather than working them on a consistent basis day after day. If you do this, you should be a-okay in gaining muscles. :D You could also do cardio or core training in between if you wanted to, but if you'd much rather gain strictly muscle, this should most definitely work.

Trying four days could also do some good as well, if you'd like. I'd recommend three though.

mate i am the same height as you and only around 134 pounds and i also have an extremely fast metabolism and am currently working on a weight plan in the gym of 4-5 days and i know what you mean, it's really frustrating when it's hard to put on size. i'm thinking of buying some supplements like protein shakes or carbohydrate shakes since once i eat something my body uses it up almost automatically!
but it should slow down in future, which i'm actually looking forward to as it's such a motivator to start eating healthier

for weight lifting you will need to go at least 3 days a week if you wish to see results, but to keep that toned feeling you get in the likes of your chest, i'd recommend 4 or 5 days with a spread out plan for example 2 days gym and then one rest and so on :)
