I just tried to send a PM and it said that you have to have 100 post to PM. When did this come into account?

When visitor messages were brought back recently (see announcements forum) the staff decided to raise the requirement to send private messages. I apologize for the inconvenience but there are too many people attempting to abuse this website for picture trading and camming so therefore these countermeasures are necessary.

idk it's really not too hard to get 100, and staff can PM back and forth to people -100 right?

Fantastic. I'm happy that the post count needed has been increased.
Besides, it's not as if they're going to need to say anything important to other members before getting 100 posts.

that really makes me upset. I really love this website because it gives me a chance to talk to people about life. I have been a member for a long time but I do not have 100 post so I can no longer talk to people until I post 100 messages

You can still talk to people via visitor messaging and the forums.

You can still easily talk to people, VMs serve that purpose under 100 posts.
