There has been a lot of talk about the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes recently. As of now, the team is owned by the league, due to last summer's bankruptcy and lack of an owner. Most recently, the Coyotes have been noted for an amazing bounceback season, tallying a Coyotes record 100 points during the regular season.

Sadly, the 'Yotes came up short in the playoffs, losing to the defending confrence champs, the Red Wings.

Now, there is talk about the NHL selling the team to Toronto billionare David Thomson teaming up with a Winnepeg based company to bring the franchise back to Canada. If this deal goes through, the team could be playing in Winnepeg next season. The AHL team in Winnepeg, the Manitoba Moose, currently play in an arena seating around 15,000, plenty for the team for the time being.

However, this deal would only occur if the two other standing deals, which would keep the team in Glendale, A.Z., fall through. The NHL has expressed their desire to keep the team in Arizona, but there is still the chance of the team moving back to Winnepeg or possibly Hamilton, Ontario (however the Senators and Sabres have objected a move to Hamilton due to it's close proximity to their teams).

Thomson is also rumored to be interested in the Atlanta Thrashers, but relocation rumors are unknown at this time.

If the deal to Thomson falls through, more than likely the Phoenix Coyotes will be renamed the Glendale Coyotes or the Arizona Coyotes within the next through seasons.
