View Full Version : Hair Question!

I've noticed my hair has gradually become a lot thinner that it used to be - and I used to have very thick hair which grew rapidly fast.
I personally think it's because I've been bleaching it once every 3 months for the past year. I'm pretty lucky with my hair (I don't wanna jinx that though, aha), because it's not really dry, breaking and there are not many split ends - although I have noticed that it doesn't grow as fast anymore, and I'm pretty certain it hasn't even grown in the past month. Furthermore, I've decided I'm going to cut back on the bleach for a very long time.
So, my question is: if I quit bleaching my hair, will it start to get thicker again? And will it begin to grow a lot faster? People have told me that's what happens, since you're allowing your hair to "breathe" for a while; so I need some kind of confirmation and reassurance.
Thanks! :)

I think if its doing this much damage to your hair at 16
then you should think about what state you want it to be in when you're in your 30's er 60's
Maybe you should stop bleaching period and accept that you don't have blonde hair.

I bleach my roots every 1.5-2 months and it I take care of it with a hydrating shampoo but it hasn't had the problem that yours has had. Mine still grows consistantly and everything. I think maybe you need to ask a doctor if you believe it's a serious problem.

It might be lacking nutrients and vitamins, or your shampoo could be a sucky one, try to see if you're using any new products, and read up on them.
It most probably it is the bleach, but it could be a combination of products.

i think you need vitamins because i know vitamin c or d(forgot which one it was) helps your hair grow faster

I do take pretty good care of my hair, and it feels too soft and sleek for someone who bleaches their hair as much as I've done. I doubt it has much to do with the products I'm using, because I've used them for such a long time without any issues.
Ryne, the reason why your hair probably isn't doing what mine is doing is because you're only bleaching the roots...I'm not too sure. From now on, I'll probably only get the hairdresser to do my roots when they really need it. Tbh, m hair is so blonde now that it may probably take ages and ages to fade away, so I won't need to retouch the ends. (:
Thankfully, my hair looks as if it's in quite good condition at this current moment, but I just wanted to stop before it was too late.
EDIT: Someone has recommended that I take cod liver oil supplements to help my hair grow thicker...goodness knows if they work or not.

I've bought some Cod Liver oil capsules, because someone I know who's friend is a professional hairdresser recommended them. I've also heard people swear by Biotin tablets (for hair and nails). So I'll definitely try those out.
And thank you, that would very helpful. :)

Okay, update: so my hair's grown (it still so happens to grow at a fairly rapid speed) and now it seems exactly the same as it was before I bleached it again - which is good. The bleach made parts of my fringe very fragile break off, but it's completely fine now. My hair feels healthier and stronger again; that's probably due to me looking after my hair a lot more and taking supplements (BTW biotin sucks, all it did was give me much worse skin (when my skin is nearly always clear) and insanely fast growing nails). Now, I've just got to be extremely careful in the near future.
Yay. :)

Yeah I've been taking them for nearly a month, but I don't know what's different about me yet. :P
God, I know nothing about hair, I didn't even realise I had THAT many split ends  but I'm too scared to cut my hair off, haha.
