In a single teardrop coursing
Down o'er my stress-worn cheeks-
I'll pen unspoken heartaches,
These hidden misery ballads,
Silent tales of a woebegone heart.
With blank ink and saltwater bled
I'll form sorrowful encryptions-
A single ebon tear.

And drop.
I'll let it fall down
As I whisper solemn prayers
That by chance it be caught;
Caught by tender hands,
Some love hands.

Message in a bottle-
Message in code;
Encrypted so only you can read.
Message safe from stranger's eyes,
Message with all my secrets inside.
Enclosed are the keys to my heart
And all the emotions I conceal.

And drop;
Message in a bottle-
Into all the other tears,
All of those fallen before.
And drop;
Truth joins the masquerade
And everything is at last unmasked.
Everything you never knew
Now breathes life anew.

But all this is just as soon lost forever;
Forever gone with time.
And as this tear crashes into the rest
The message if held will dispurse;
Fade away, and you'll never know.

You'll never know what was written there,
Of all the secrets held inside.
You'll never know what I wanted you to,
And you'll never know
Of the pain I harbor inside
Everytime I look back into your eyes.
You'll never know;
I'll never know what should have been.

I'll never know.
