PM Limit

Is there any way you could increase the PM limit up to like 1000, at the moment I clear all my pm's out when I reach 500 but there's some pm's that would be good to keep from time to time, but I can't because reach the limit way to fast and end up deleting all.

There's always the option of downloading them all to your computer, at the bottom of the inbox page - that way, they're not permanently gone after being deleted from the site.

I think Maya has a great idea here. Just create a folder on your computer for those messages. (that's what I've done) and save all your messages as a text document. You'll have virtually unlimited storage.

I would agree with you and Maya here, but 90% of the time Siobhan uses her iPod touch to use VT and so do quite a few other members, so that isn't really an option for her as space and activity is much more limited than if she and others could use a computer. Also if you delete them from your inbox and save to your computer, if an admin is required to check the pm in question it may be a little hard. I think its a good idea, but would it be something that would need to be paid for as an add on, or is it just an optional setting that comes with Vbulletin?

I agree that it should be increased. I dont PM a lot at any form but i know it would be nice. Govteen has 2500

Exactly, I have a normal account on govteen and my limit is 1000.
I think we should encourage members to preserve their messages and I would like to keep mine because I am somewhat of a packrat

On the forum I'm a mod at the regular users get 100 and mods get 200 and admin get unlimited.

So, don't feel so bad...

it doesnt need to be unlimited really, just save the ones you need to a different inbox folder, it wont delete them when yoyu clear the inbox

You'd be surprised Ben. Plus we need to save a lot of messages for future reference if need be. I think its a pretty good idea, seeing as quite a few members list their services of listening/talking though pm and so on in a lot of posts, it might be a good idea to expand the inbox size just in case.

It seems reasonable to give mods a higher limit but I dont really think its necessary for ordinary members. To be honest there are probably many people who never clear down their inbox until they hit the limit, I'm rather like that myself, and hang onto lots of old messages that really arent needed. If the limit was increased we would just end up keeping unwanted old junk for longer.

i agree that mods need a lot more then 500, as they need to reference back to old messages and use them as evidence and stuff, but normal members definetly dont need it, just clean out your inbox once a month like i do, that way i never have more then 150 or so PM's floating around.
