Is anyone going with one of their parents? I went for three years until last year, because of the economy my dad's work place did not organize it. this year I am not going because I hate missing classes. I wish I could go though :(
in middle school it was no problem because there were no classes.
The first year was the best because I got a pen that writes invisible ink with a blacklight...the two years after that was rather boring.
last year some of my teachers brought their child.

I have to go with my mom who sits at a computer all day and every once and a while goes to a meeting. At least there's a woman with candy. :biggrin2:

I accompanied my father for a day, back in ninth grade. He was a real estate agent, so we spent the day meeting clients and touring homes all over the region. I remember, one client walked up to us, greeted him, the looked at me and proceeded to say, 'your assistant?'
Some people just simply choose to stay in for a day, as we are not evaluated on it or anything like that, so there is no real requirement to participate.

Both of my parents work for Georgia Pacific. I used to go to work with my mum once in a while, she's a CEO secretary. I'd always get stuck shredding paper, filing, reorganize boxes upon boxes of stuff, get loaned out to other workers to do their bidding xD... my dad is basically the 'go to' guy since he can do any job there. He felt bad that I was stuck inside filing one day, so he stole me for an hour or so to help him salt the walkways on a snowy day.
I never minded going to work with them. Hell, I went to help my mum while I was unemployed last winter. They've both worked there for over 20 years, so everybody out there knows me, no awkwardness.

My mom is a nurse at a rehabilitation clinic/nursing home. Basically, it's where older people go after surgery. I go up there a lot to meet the patients, and I love talking to them. Elderly people always seem to like me, for some reason :D

My father's work place used to organize them and I'd go then. Pretty fun as I got to do some paper work, free snacks, helping my dad and others with their work which I didn't really understand but they tried to teach me a bit of it. My mother's work place was a bit better in the sense she had a much larger office, nice big glass doors and walls, great view of the downtown area but kind of boring as she had lots of meetings, people going to her to organize and ask permission to do certain projects and such. My mother's new work place also does it but I'm a bit too old to go now  . I went a few times just when my father and I brought her gifts and such but it's still kind of boring despite a large office with multiple desks, shoe rack and mini fridge plus coffee maker.

It was never a big thing at my school. You would have between three and four kids a year go with their parents during grade school. I never went since my dad was a paramedic and worked nights and my mother was a teacher. In high school it would have been an unexcused absence. Funny thing is, my senior year, I volunteered in the ER where my dad now works as a nurse. Different times of day (He still works nights, I was there in the afternoons)

well it wouldn't be an unexcused absence if you have a vacation form thing...at least for my school

true last time I ever went was when I was 13, in 8th grade. last year my dad's work place could not organize it and this year I am 15 and if I didn't mind missing class I would've gone with my little brother -_-

Where my dad works there isn't really a 'Take Your Child to Work" day. But when I was younger I would be in his office a lot because I wouldn't be allowed to stay at home alone so he'd just bring me in there for a couple hours.

My parents never let me when I was a kid. And anyways, up until a few months ago my mom just worked from home. So that would have been very interesting.

We don't officially do it in the UK but in the summer my Mum took me to her work to give me 'office experience'. It was OK.
