okay so i don't know if this was the right spot so if not can some one move it, anyway
1) i was talking to one of my friends who im close with while on a really long hike and he was talking about how he was chaffing down there and he said it was because his balls were sweating, so is sweat what causes chaffing and how do you prevent it

2) okay so i have been doing a lot of yard work lately because im on vacation and i noticed that the insides of my legs are chaffing, a lot, is this because of ... ( refer to question in 1)

Yes that it does, but it burns like Satans breath after he ate an atomic bomb as a breath freshner... But ya, I find that wearing under armour compression shorts works amazingly, and when you work, if you don't have the compression shorts, just go inside, "dry off" so to speak, then put on some new underwear, it keeps you from getting too moist in the sac...

Question 1) What causes chafing is a good question, and I would say that a bunch of factors can cause it with sweat being a major culprit. I believe the suggestions mentioned above regarding underwear are good ones, and wearing briefs might even be a good option if you are going on long hikes. Also, keeping pubic hair trimmed down and manageable does make a difference in terms of sweat and chafing. I believe the Gold Bond suggestion was a good one, and you can put that around your genitals which can make a difference. Heck, using baby powder is the best way to go as it is cheap, and it basically is designed for that purpose (for babies anyway).

Question 2) My thinking about your leg situation is perhaps your skin is not properly lubricated. After you take a shower rubbing your body down with cream can really help prevent such problems. Using something like Jergens, Johnson & Johnson products, or their generic equivalents all go a long way to ensuring skin is kept refreshed and elastic. Guys sometimes do not keep their skin lubricated which does lead to the problem you are describing. Trying using cream on your whole body for a week, and you should notice a difference.

I have the worst chafe right now, if I put anything but ice on it, it's worse pain than a 6" knife up the butt which has happened before, I made a full recovery though.

Edit: if I put ice on it, it's worse than a 12" knife in my sack.

its b/c ur skin gets wet and it rubs together. thats what causes chaffing...you could be wearing wet boxers or something (ex. pulled them out of the dryer when they wernt done but you needed them anyways) and then while ur walking alot b4 they are dry, you could chaff....and sweating is the culprit too. i have personal experience with chaffing b/c i sweat ALOT down there. I find also that underarmor compression shorts work best. im sick of chaffing (happens alot with me and boxers) so i only wear compression shorts, unless i know im going to be doing absolutly nothing.
