One of the most heated debates in today's NHL is the rivalry of Russian Alexander Ovechkin of the Capitals and Canadian Sidney Crosby of the Penguins.
Here are their career NHL stats:
Alex Ovechkin (WSH)
Drafted 1st Overall in 2004 by Washington
GP----G ----A----PTS----PIMS
396---269---260---529---305
0.67 Goals Per Game Average
0.65 Assist Per Game Average
1.33 Points Per Game Average
Sidney Crosby (PIT)
Drafted 1st Overall in 2005 by Pittsburgh
GP----G----A----PTS----PIM
371---183---323---506---356
0.49 Goals Per Game Average
0.87 Assist Per Game Average
1.36 Points Per Game Average
As you can see, they have virtually the same statistics and game averages. The biggest diffrences between the two are their playing style and their personalities. Ovechkin is more of a finesse goal scorer, while Crosby (with the exception of this season) is more of a playmaker.
Who do you consider to be the better of the two?

Ovie. Hands down, mostly because of his personality he is more of a fighter than Crosby and he doesn't complain about everything.
Yes Crosby has a title and Ovechkin does not, but Malkin won that title for the pens.

I agree. Ovie's playing style is killer, he's a team player, but he scores some kick-ass goals. I think he's also tougher than Crosby, he's willing to stand up for his teamates.
Either way, they're both good players.

I also agree. Ovie is a much better two way player, and he is a lot tougher than crosby too.

Sidney Crosby i believe he could be the next Mario Lemuix If he continues along he gleaming path. Ovechkin on the other hand he's an all around good player, but Crosby was was MVP and I just think and I hope he takes home the cup for the penguins they deserve it.

For those who say Ovie is a better two way player...Ovie led the league in giveaways this year.

Please stop trying to prove me wrong.. You're embarassing yourself. Ovie actually didn't lead the league in giveaways, Tyler myers did, oh and just a side note Crosby also had MORE giveaways than Ovie did. so do yourself a favor and get your facts straight before you post incorrect information, especially if you're going to try to prove me wrong. Oh and what a shocker Ovie also had more takeaways too.. Just want to add that ovie had More than triple the amount of hits Crosby had this year. I'd love to see where you get your information from. Oh also one more thing, I'm pretty sure ovechkin was a +45. What was Crosby again? Oh yeah I think he was only a +15.

Stop trying? I did it once.
When I checked NHL.com, that's what it said. I messed it up somehow.
I don't get why you're acting so immature.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure you should check the NHL entry draft thread. I'm not acting immature, I'm merely trying to prove my point. It's not my fault you can't stand being corrected.

That's really immature...I was only stating something, yet you say I'm embarrasing myself.
Let's see...Ovie is plus 45. That doesn't mean anything, the Caps have a high powered offense. Ovie was lucky enough to be on a team like that. The only reason Ovechkin has more assists is because of the amount of shots he takes every game. If a player scores off an Ovie rebound, that means Ovie gets an assist, even if he didn't pass the puck. I've watched an equal amount of Pens games, and an equal amount of Caps game. I definitely see Crosby pass way more than Ovechkin does.

Ok look I'm sorry for sounding like an asshole, I really didn't mean to sound like that. Sidney Crosby also plays on a high powered offensive team, what does that have to do with anything? Also who cares if it's off of rebounds or not, last time I checked a point is a point and it doesn't matter how you get it. And I'm pretty sure that +/- is an indication of how well you play your position on both sides of the ice. Not just on offense. Ok Crosby can make better passes, fine. But it really doesn't matter how you set up your teammates, picking up rebounds and going hard to the net is legit. They're bothgood offensive players but I'm just saying ovechkin plays his position better on both sides of the ice. Relax man, I'm sorry ok? Like I said I didn't mean to sound like an ass.

I watched the playoff series last year between Washington and Pittsburgh and thought Crosby thoroughly outplayed Ovechkin.
