Here's a question, ROTW. Why do we continue debating abortion when neither side has raised any new points in years?

Because heated discussions can be entertaining, and so long as the intense controversy exists, the entertainment value will always be there. Argue for the sake of arguing.

Stupidity.

Most likely because each side sees those previously raised points as still perfectly valid ones. I think the real debating often takes place over the finer points of... the raised points, if that makes sense.

Thus the debate is really about whether those points are valid.

Watch or read the news, the issues of abortion keep coming up over and over. It leads us to question our views on it, and if enough or for some other reason, post on ROTW.

people enjoy imposing their beliefs and morals upon others
Everyone's guilty of it at one point or another

Because people see some of those points as extremely valid and need to put out as much as they can. Not only that but that to people, it is a big argument and an even larger deal. They speak their beleifs because they're crucial to them.

Because they enjoy it, obviously. Next easy question?

As long as there is controversy, there will be discussion. Sometimes pointless and redundant discussion, but discussion all the same.

I think I might have a new point. I've never heard it from anyone before so I assume it's new, just gimme a sec and then tell me it's been done.

I think abortion should be legal because it's the logical choice. Women were having abortions even when it wasn't legal but they had to go into back allys and they were often injured or killed. Since abortion has become legal, women are safer. People do it anyway so why not make it legal.

I also think that it's not my or your vagina (well, it could be yours). So why are you involved in the decision at all? You just sit yourself over there and be quiet. If you are opposed to abortion, don't have one. You don't have to have one. I'm tired of having people impose their moral judgments on me. They can have their morals and I can have mine.
