So a few minutes ago I was typing my novel and Mom came by and asked what I was typing and she looked at part of it and thought it was a MESSAGE I was going to send to somebody. UGH I told her it was my novel and she told me to delete the whole thing
I am still irritated. What's wrong with writing a novel????? I finished ALL my homework I have no tests tomorrow...and I can't write my novel ????????????:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I asked her why she said because you can't.

That does sound a little unfair. The only reasons that I think she would do that is if you were grounded or if you had sent innapropriate messages before, but I doubt either of those. I think you just need to talk to her, and tell her you weren't lying. The best thing to do is show it to her, if you didn't already delete it. That would prove to her that you weren't sending out a message.
But is there a reason that she woulden't want you to send out messages?

Is your mother one of those parents who believe that teenagers should be doing nothing else but study all day, and thus non-academic writing would be activity which takes away from study time, which is looked down upon? I've come across many of these in the Asian population; frustrating and impossible to deal with.
Have you tried reasoning with her, about how it really makes no sense to forbid you from engaging in personal hobbies such as creative writing if it has not shown to be detrimental to your life? Respect her reasons, if she is able to offer any. Simply saying 'you can't because you can't' doesn't cut it. You are capable of thinking for yourself now, and just because your mother is in a position of authority doesn't mean that you're not entitled to question her position.
