Can you suggest me any freeware that supports GPU acceleration... My desktop has Ati radeon HD 5770 and my laptop has Intel GMA 4500M(which supports partitial acceleration)... Actually i need the software specially for my laptop... Because its processor is not that powerful (core 2 duo 2.2ghz)... So please suggest me any freeware that support Intel IGP acceleration... Thanks in advance...

I don't know if it does that or not, but VLC Media Player is fantastic for all media formats. I can get it to play HD video on an Intel Pentium M 1.7GHz.

Windows Media Player. :p

But seriously, most, if not all media players support hardware acceleration of a video stream, seeing as it's not the media player that's actually 'playing' it, it's just providing a portal to display it.

On your desktop, make sure you have the latest drivers from http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx to make use of hardware acceleration. To further make the video stream look better, pull up the Catalyst Control Center Advanced control panel, and change the Avivo options to something that suits you.

On your laptop, the Intel GPU only supports hardware acceleration of WMV, MPEG, VC-1, & AVC video types. To make full use of the hardware acceleration, make sure you have the latest drivers from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

Actually i use VLC player as my default media player....
Yeah... I can play almost all of my HD videos smoothly... But my cpu usages goes up very high... And some of the videos seems choppy... Actually i want to reduce cpu usages... Ohh... I updated my drivers a few weeks ago... And i need a software that supports gpu acceleration... Any ideas?

Windows Media Player 12, PowerDVD, & Media Player Classic are currently the only media players (That support a wide range of video types) that support GPU acceleration of a video stream. (So yes, I'm taking back my previous statement that all media players support hardware acceleration.)
Regardless, a HD video is still going to be highly CPU intensive.
