Alright, my hair isn't too long, but it's not too short. It's medium. I'm thinking about getting a very small trim and styling my hair, but the thing is I don't know what style would be best for me. I want it to be like straight in the front and like stick up in the back. Could somebody give me some advice? There's some picture of my hair in my User page thing.
I added pictures, there's 2 looks I want. Just the plain straight one, and that one where the back sticks up. And judging my the pictures on my page, should I get a short trim or just leave it as is, cause the back of my hair is alot longer than the front and sides, and it just looks bad ( Also would thinning my hair make it better too? My hairs pretty thick )
And my hair gets poofy after I get out of the shower >.<
( Yes those are screenshots from youtube )

Well, my hairs naturally long. Nothing I can really do about that, and I said "emo" (Quotations) I want to style my hair, but people refer to the style as "emo" so I'm just calling it what people know it as.

Haha I was wondering how long it would be 'till this appeared :P
First thing I would do is get a professional cut done from a salon or hair-dressers. Don't go to a barbers because they will mainly do structured cuts (short back and sides) which is not what your after at all. So, I would choose which style you want ( my preference will always go to the spiked up style ) then get some pictures of it. Just do a google search for "Scene guys hair" or "emo guys hair" since they are often similar. Just put some pictures together and take them to the salon/hair-dressers and they will cut it like that. However, they MIGHT cut it shorter than you'd like which is a GOOD thing if it happens, because it means that your hair will grow out a bit and make it look more choppy and natural. Also, they probably won't style it the exact way (as big) in the picture unless you actually go to a hair-dressers none for doing scene/emo hair.
Sooo, after you've had your hair all chopped and changed, it's time to style it. Wash your hair first, and used shampoo and conditioner. You said your hair is too poofy so try to not use products that say they add "volume" or "body" to you hair.
First thing to do is to dress first, so that your top doesn't wreck your hair when you put it on LOL . Then brush your hair (still wet - don't dry it yet) to get rid of any knots, then comb it into two sections. You want to part you hair horizontally at the point where you want your spikes to start. Comb your fringe forward and clip in place with some hair pins (girly I know - but they will work!) use a towel to mess up the back of your hair and then put your head down and lean over (so your looking at your own stomach/crotch/legs). Use a hair dryer to dry the back of your hair. Move the dryer from the base of your hair to the top of your head (or wherever your wanted your spikes to start) After you've done this, straighten up and check in the mirror. Your hair might look all over the place at the back but that's fine (or it could be how you want it). I recommend using the hair-dryer just once more, this time with your head tilted back so you're looking at the ceiling. Once your done just look in the mirror and use the dryer to blow your hair about as you want it.
Okay, you've made the back of you hair stand on end without product, now it's time to use some to make your spikes BIGGER and firmer! :D I always use Got 2 B glues hairspray by Shwarzkopf and I recommend you use it too! Just spray the back of your hair and then use the tips of your fingers to make your hair more spikey. When your happy with it, use the hairspray one last time - holding it further away from your head - to just give an all over hold to the back.
Okay, now it's time to do the front of your hair. This is usually the easiest part. Dry it with a hair dryer and straighten it. Part it how you want it to be with a comb and straighten it again. You might want to use some wax to give your fringe some texture, but I don't.
Once your happy with the over-all look of your hair, just give it a quick all-over spray - from distance - with the hair-spray just to keep it all in place!
And just to show you that my method DOES work :P Here are some pics of my hair after I went through the exact steps I mention above :D
