I hate to say it man, but i can't see any team being able to take down Pittsburgh. They're far too talented and are playing with so much intensity. That was an amazing play yesterday by crybaby Crosby to keep the puck out of the net. The only team i would even give a shot at taking down the Pens are the Capitals and the Canucks. That being said i've got the Canucks and Penguins in the stanley cup this year.

Personally, I'm expecting something different than the last two years. I don't think Pittsburgh will get past the second, if they win this round. Fluery has been really off his game recently, if he performs badly, the Pens are done. The Red Wings? Maybe, they looked hot in the last game, especially Zetterberg.
I'm thinking that Chicago will take the West. Huet is doing really good in net, and their young team guarantees a lot of energy game in and game out. The Sharks are also a possibility, seeing how they were denied in the first round last year.
As for the East, I'm thinking either Philly or the Caps. The Caps are red hot, as always, with Ovie, Semin, Backstrom, Green and Varlamov. Philly has more depth than almost any team in the leauge, with forwards like Richards, Carter, and Gagne, and D-Men like Pronger and Coburn.
Either way, it's going to be a good one.

Considering how bad the Caps are defensively, I wouldn't be surprised if they get eliminated this round.
Yeah I said it. It might sound crazy, but I think it could happen.

Yeah, it's possible. But I mean, the Caps have plenty of good physical defensemen like Jeff Schultz, Shoane Morrisson and Tom Poti. Then again, the Habs have Hal Gill.

I'm still going with a Detroit Washington final, but Pittsburgh might sneak in there

I don't know. The two comeback teams in the west (the 'Yotes and Avs) are looking pretty good. But I don't expect them to get very far.
Hollywood
April 22nd, 2010, 01:36 AM
Looking at it now, I think Pittsburgh has a shot at a 3rd confrence year. Or maybe that's just because the Sens goaltending has returned to being shit.
Either way, The Sens, Habs, Sabres, and Devils are all one loss away from playoff expulsion.
Hollywood
April 22nd, 2010, 10:14 PM
As expected, the Flyers eliminated the Devils in game 5. It's dissapointing to see Kovalchuk yet again be denied playoff success.
The Senators will live to see another day, they beat Pittsburgh 4-3 in 3rd OT, and now trail 3-2 in the series.

Yeah, it would be dissapointing to see them drop to a bounceback team like the 'Yotes. Nontheless, I think they will pull through.

Sabres are going to comeback I predict. With the way the played in Game 5 last night and the way Tukka Rask failed in net. That said something. This young goalie the Bruins are trying to push to be great will not take them to the finals. I promise you this. Alas, Rask is but a young netminder and will eventually be great. Better than Miller I predict.
I hope Buffalo wins Game 6. I will go ballistic if they don't.
Caps-Habs series will end in Game 6. I still predict the Caps winning it all. With the way the Pens are playing they won't get passed the second round. They just look bad and "Sid the kid" doesn't look so much like a kid anymore.
I predict the Yotes' will make it passed the Wings. I also think the Avs and Sharks will go to Game 7. Sharks will prevail though. Even if the Avs had the strength to beat the Sharks they won't get far. I have a feeling Phoenix can go far. Really far.
Hollywood
April 25th, 2010, 10:38 PM
Well, the Avs yet again have dissapointed me. They made a huge improvement season-wise, but playoffs wise.....barely. Maybe it's not having Joe Sakic, I don't know. But their younger players really came out this year, Duchene is up for the Calder.
Another much improved team, the Sens, also dissapointed in the playoffs. Their goaltending fell apart in game 4, and they put in Leclaire, who did pretty well. However, we all pretty much knew they were no match for the Pens.
The Devils had a pretty good season overall, even though Kovalchuk dissapointed quite a bit goal-wise. Playoffs? They fucked up. Simply put, the Flyers were believed to have no chance going against Broduer without Emery or Leighton. Martin Broduer's time in the NHL is ticking down, and they need to draft a good goalie in this year's draft.
I'm expecting the Blackhawks to beat the Preds, the Wings beating the 'Yotes, Caps beating the Habs, 'Nucks beating the Kings, and the Sabres beating the B's.
We'll see.

i would love to see the pens lose, because i want to see everyone in this town go crazy. i hate it, they always make a big deal out of it.. all the pens fans here in the burgh really made me hate them.. tis sad. but oh well.
anyways i want boston to beat buffalo and destroy the pens. and then the canadiens will win in 7 against the caps. and also, since my avalanche are now out, i think the coyotes should win, itd make for a good story. but i think the blackhawks are too strong.
the pens willl sadly reach the stanley cup against the blackhawks. and the hawks will win. hands down! :)

April 26th, 2010, 08:46 PM
Well the Sabres are now eliminated, they played a good game, but just not good enough.
The Predators also played a close game, but were eliminated by the Blackhawks, as expected.
And finally, the Kings have been knocked the fuck out. Good news for my Ducks, we can now keep rubbing our Stanley Cup in their faces.
Hollywood
April 28th, 2010, 01:59 AM
Well, unfortuantly for Phoenix hockey, their team is now eliminated. Almost the same post-season outurn, except this time, they won't get a high draft choice.
Just one game left in the Semi-Finals, the Habs and the Caps.

Yeah I said it. It might sound crazy, but I think it could happen.
Looks like you were right. Mike Green's little fuck-up turned in to a late 3rd period goal, giving the Habs a 2 goal lead, and winning the game 2-1.
I have updated the match-ups for the quarter-finals. They start tommorow, it should be just as exciting.

I must say I was surprised at the Caps elimination, they really outplayed the Habs. Not a huge fan of Ovechkin because of some of his antics but I would have liked to see what he could do in the finals I mean he is an awesome player.
As for my Red Wings, they struggled again getting out of the first round. They are having some severe defensive breakdowns, the Sharks really lit them up for those 2 minutes scoring 3 goals and never looked back. I am still confident they will eliminate the Sharks though. :yeah:

I would have went mental if the Queens would've advanced. Of course, this is coming from a hardcore Ducks fan.
I would've loved to see the Wings go home crying by being beaten by the Yotes. Then again, I hope that the rumors are still true about re-relocation back to Winnepeg.

If you watched tonight's MTL vs. PIT game, you witnessed the very last game to be played at the 42 year old Mellon Arena. A sad day it is for Penguins fans.
The Penguins, in my opinion, got full of themselves. They had it, and they blew it. Montreal now has a chance to head to the finals for the first time since 1993. Congrats to the Habs, and see you next year Pens, in the brand new Consol Energy Center.

TRADE: The Phoenix Coyotes have traded away prospect Jared Staal to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for the 'Canes 5th Round choice in 2010. Jared's older brother, Eric, is the captain of the Hurricanes. Jared will more than likely play in Carolina's system next season.
If he isn't signed by June 1, he will be required to re-enter the NHL Draft this year.

Funny. Irony has gotten the best of the Bruins. Possibly a bad omen, yet sweet justice was served. The Bruins skated out with a 3-0 lead over the Flyers. Well.. Turns out the game ended just like the series. The Flyers scored the next 4 goals to win the game, and they won the last 4 games to win the series.
See ya next year Bruins fans!

Well, good news today for Panthers fans. Dale Tippet, the former Blackhawks GM, has been hired to be the new GM of the Panthers. Tippet was the guy that completely turned around Chicago, drafting guys like Kane and Toews, trading for Havlat and Sharp, and signing Hossa and Niemi.
Hopefully, the Panthers will be on track soon.

We don't have to build from scratch. Tippet is more of a foundation-up kind of GM. Bob Murray is giving us enough to the point where I think we'll be back on track next year.
Niedermayer and Selanne are rumored to retire every year. I just don't worry about it because it never seems to happen. When it does, then we will have enough rookies and salary cap to make up for them.
