They are. I have no idea why. Maybe because for popular diarys they'll just be archived and then pruned, and unpopular diarys are sure to be deleted.

Well threads I had on my diary are gone and I have to go through peoples post history to find them

Can't you use the archives? Or does pruning delete them from the site?

well i can see back to when it was started, i think, was it started on or around April 17th.
if you go to the bottom of your diary you should see a box that gives you the option of viewing threads from a certain time, i just have it set to beginning.

Why are prunings set on diaries?
By default, all member forums are set to a view of 2 months of threads. This can be disabled or changed in a forum simply by selecting the 'from the beginning' or other preferred selection.
Also, if you are talking about inactivity forum pruning, then the sticky in the Diary HQ explains that. :)
