Hey VT,

This Friday I have an audition in London to be in the cast of the next series of Skins. I'm really excited and looking forward to going.

FYI: Skins is a British television show following the lives of several teens and the drama their life experiences. It follows various controversial topics and has been called gritty and innovative of a tried and done genre

So, My main question is.... how should I present myself? Should I dress as I normally would and portray a character of myself or should I dress slightly more formally. Also, has anyone else had any sort of experience like this who could give me some other useful advice? Thanks a lot :D

I've been to many tv and film auditions. Skins would be a hard show to audition for, the cast really seem to be in character. So don't go into it thinking your going to get it. You might not. But I would go for the experience, and probably go just so you can get used to auditioning.

Are you auditioning for a specific role or character? I would try to act like the role you are auditioning for.

Dress in your normal clothes. Once you get the part, they (Producers, directors), will dress you.

They are judging you based on your acting, not your wardrobe.

It won't be easy. Don't let your nerves get to you.

If you have any more questions, or if you want to question me about what I said, just let me know.

Hehe, I know that the chance of me actually getting into the cast in very minimal, and me and my friends are going for the experience.

I think during the audition they ask you to do a solo improvised piece as if the judges where the second character and a group piece that is either scripted or improvised.

I don't know what they're looking for character wise either.

Thanks for your help though :)

that is amazing :) good luck man. audtions can be scary, but don't let it get to you. like August said act like the role you are going for, dress like the role too, obviously if the character is wearing osmething unusual from normal day wear, don't wear it. you odn't want to act lik you tried to dress like him. just become the character. you are no longer Benny but *place name here* that is amazing that you get to audtition for it man, sierously this will be a wonderful experience win or lose. you must post updates on it!! i wish you the best of luck, and will pray that you do your greatest!

Well unfortunately the whole thing is off due to family stuff and the cost of getting up to London. But thank you all so much for the help you've given :)

Unlucky dude.

I love skins, its getting very popular now though so its harder and harder to find a cast that can match the last season. But as you said you never know and its good just for experience

Sorry about not being able to but I want to give my two cents anyways.
When going on any audition really, unless they say be dressed for movement or specifically say how to dress, you should make sure you dress like you put some effort into it. So for many people that is semi-formal. Nice button up shirt, non-jean pants, etc. but then some auditions are really lose and you can wore just some jeans a shirt.
But make it look like you care!

Good luck on your next one
