I think the "Cutting and Self Harm" section should be made a members only thread just like "The White Padded Room."
Because I think a lot of people might not want for just any random person who wanders onto the site to be able to view sensitive material such as that which is contained in the section.

The White padded room is "members only" so it can encourage people to join. From what I know. If you don't want people to see sensitive stuff, I wouldn't post it. Use TWPR for rants and such if you need to keep things private from guests.

Why would we do that? What if people do not want to join, but still need help. They can just read threads and get the advice from that section. I think it would be taking something away from some people if we made it members only.

The same could be said of the sexuality section and p101, which wouldnt knock out huge chunks of the site. It needs these sections (including Cutting and Self Harm) to be open so that new comers can see what the forum is all about and decide whether it meets their needs.
There is always the option of not putting too much detail into a thread but asking people to contact you if they can help. You can then get into a private discussion, either by pm or offsite, which guests would not be able to read.

any ol randomer seeing? well you have the choice to be a randomer to
its your choice or not whether you let people know about yourself other than the problems
anonymity is still maintained by alot of members who come here seeking help and they still get the help
so its not really a problem as all you are to those randomers is a randomer

What if the option was made to make your thread either, member's only or open to all?

I'm not sure, but I think that would be a technical nightmare.
Both incorporating that into the posting section and having members only threads within forums that are viewed by guests.

If its something personal that you dont want guests to see you can post it in your blog. When I had one there was a place to select who sees your blog.

There still is, I remember I changed mine a few months ago. I thin it's under blog options.
