Alright, I remember when one of my best friends transferred to a school in another state (across the country I might add) and how rough it was. So trust me, I can at least partially relate to what you're going through, although I was given NO warning.

Anyway, as to what you should do. (By the way, I'm assuming the school he's transferring to is close by, and he wouldn't be moving houses).

Ask him first. Talk to him and see if, deep down, he actually does want to switch schools. He obviously doesn't want to hurt you but maybe this new school presents new opportunities for him.

Talk to his parents. If his mom is likable, and she will talk to you, try to convince her that you'll really miss him if he transfers. Explain to her that his grades will stay high (or improve if he stays) and that you'll make sure he stays on the right path. Ask her for her reasons for the move, and see if it's because of your friend or because of her own interests. Counter her arguments respectfully and make sure she knows how much his move would hurt your friendship.

If he does move. Keep in touch, hang out, etc. It's not the end of the world, but research does show that males need physical friendships (hanging out, etc.) whereas females can get by with talking on the phone, etc. Make some new friends, and you'll be fine.

Good luck, and make sure to update the thread with how it goes.

alrt thx. i just noticed tht the school is actually a lot farther thn the school hes curaintly attending. like 3x as far im guessing. also his most of his family lives in Rocky Point so he goes there frequently but he nvr tells me when. his grades are better thn mine right now, he got first honors, damn. ive only seen his mom once or twice but he nvr actually introduced her to me. also, his transferring will not only affect me but a lot more ppl tht i had imagined. he has a lot of good friends at skool which mite get affected maybe just a little bit.
