Hey VT, I just wondered if anyone here has ever been involved in a online, cross country relationship thing. Like someone in America emailing or IMing someone in Australia and having some sort of relationship from that. I knwo this sounds weird but I heard that quite a few teens have experienced this in some way at some point. So yeah, just wanted to know I anyone's had something g like this or has ever thought about getting in to something like this (that's not an invite lol)

Look around in this site; it is indeed common, at least among those of us who find the Internet to be a significant source of social activity.

As with any experience - it can be very insightful when approached appropriately.

You say you'll never regret it but isn't it hard? Loving and sting someone miles and miles away without ever being able to touch or see them? I wouldn't know so that's why Im asking :)

I'm in one right now.
Switzerland -> America.
We keep texting constantly and I really like him :)
Though yeah sometimes i really wish I could see him. or touch him.
But i guess thats hard over a 5 thousand mile distance.

Online relationships aren't all they seem to be. There's a lot of things in a online relationship that you can't do like in a in RL one. As long as both of the people are willing to work with it, it could work.

I've been in one, and honestly wouldn't do it again.

It's one thing if you're already in a relationship and they have to leave to somewhere else. Another thing entirely when you have never met them before and it could easily be a fat, old man.

I could never be in a relationship with someone I'd never met IRL. What's the point of having a BF I see less than most of my actual friends? I'm also not convinced it's particularly helpful or healthy, but I can't really tell anyone else what to do or compel them to agree with my opinion.

I personally like online relationships better, at least to start off, because you get to know eachother better.

I've been in a few relationships and the only one I haven't been hurt from was through the internet.

If both parties are willing to accept the fact waiting is involved, but you still have each other although not in person, It's doable. Its just the type of people that's involved. Mines going perfectly well, we both accept the fact we can't physically be together but that isn't stopping us.

Online relationships take alot of trust in each other. You need to be able to trust that whoever you're with isn't fooling around behind your back. You need to spend more time with each other. Emails, IM, webcam, whatever. Basically its just hard to maintain a healthy one, but it can be done. Who knows, maybe you'll get to meet him/her face to face.

The on-line thing, in my experience... doesn't work, And I was in one, it ended, at least I think it did..
