Today I came to the realization I am a binge eater I just eat and eat for basically no point, I just feel like doing it. I need a way to try an stop this habit so that I don't constantly eat causing me to gain weight, I am currently trying to starve myself to try and turn me off food, the reasoning for this is that if I don't eat food at all then I won't have to worry about over eating.

Starving yourself is a horrible idea - it's just replacing one problem with another.

Many binge eaters feel that eating helps them relieve negative emotions and stress. What do you think you are getting out of the experience of eating, that fuels the desire to constantly eat more and more? Addressing the underlying causes, as there almost always are, is the best way to approach self-destructive habits.

People with binge eating disorder struggle with feelings of guilt, disgust, and depression. They worry about what the compulsive eating will do to their bodies and beat themselves up for their lack of self-control. They desperately want to stop binge eating, but they feel like they can’t.

According to the National Institutes of Health, 2 percent of all U.S. adults suffer from compulsive overeating—making binge eating disorder more common than bulimia or anorexia. Unlike other eating disorders, which primarily occur in women, binge eating disorder also affects a significant number of men.

When you've just binged throw away all the food you binged on (if there is some left) then you are unlikely to binge again :)

Just getting a new hobby won't fix the problem. I don't know the answer though. I've got the same problem.

Obviously you're ignorant to this illness, Juan.

I'd recommend seeing a professional, a nutritionist & a dietician.
These 3 can all help you in different ways.
A professional(preferably a psychologist) can help get to the root of this problem, and why you binge eat, and then in turn, can help you through this & overcome it & stop binge eating.
Nutritionist, pretty self explanatory, same with dietitian.

Binge eating makes me feel so bad...I hate the feeling of failure and of lacking in self-discipline. I feel worthless.

No, don't starve yourself completley. Just cut down on the sorts of food you eat. Binge eaters tend to go for junk fod, so ask your parents not to buy junk food. And don't buy any yourself.

It's better to eat healthily than starve yourself.

I'm not saying you need to be on diet lol just away from foods that aren't healthily so that if you do feel the need to eat that you're not gorging on bad stuff. Also if you can help it, only eat when you FEEL hungry. Not just out of boredom.
If you're bored, go outside. Get your ipod and go for a walk or something.
