Why is it that on a computer you have to install the game, but on a console, you don't have to? I just find it weird that with computer games you get a bunch of installation discs and with a console, you get the one disc to play on.

On a lot of games for the PS3 you can/have to install games, it provides for better loading times. But consoles generally have less HDD space, so its more space efficient to use the disc as the only storage device. On a lot of older PC games you have to have the disc for it to run, anyway.

Yeah, you can do that on the 360, too. But I'm saying that you have to install the game before you can play it.

Oh ok. It probably has something to do with the amount of storage available on the console then.

I think its because on a PC game it hasn't a clue what software/hardware you have but on a console game it knows what hardware a 360 has for example. E.G. what processor etc. but on a PC you could have a Intel or a AMD etc etc.

That and the fact that PC's aren't primarily for games. They have so many other uses where as a gaming console has gaming only on its mind.
