View Full Version : Obnoxious Teacher RANT (kinda)

Hey guys. I hope everyone's doing well. We're on spring break here so life is great and stress-free.
Anyway, I figured it'd be the perfect time to make a rant about a very obnoxious teacher that I have. She HATES it when people do anything BUT french (she's the french teacher) in her classroom. If she sees any other subject out on your desk, she'll take it for the rest of the year and give you a detention.
Now, this really bugs the living shit out of me. First of all, I have every right to do whatever I want in a classroom (well, pertaining to school work at least). I get by with an A almost always, and she teaches something maybe once a week. All the other days it's pointless busy work that I could put aside in favor of much more important work.
She'll start up the sarcasm generator all the time too. "If you guys need stuff to do, I can give you more work." "Maybe this class isn't hard enough for you guys, I can make it harder."
I JUST WANT TO SHOUT AT HER TO SHUT UP. half the time she's on facebook (before they blocked it at school), or ebay, or checking emails while we just sit there.
Does anyone else have any teachers like this? I can't seem to understand why it's such a big deal. Let me worry about my work, you just teach your damn subject and leave me alone.

A teacher of one subject confiscates your textbook and/or work of another subject for part of the year? That seems pretty unrealistic to me because she is impeding your education of that subject, and although you may be breaking the rules, having her impede your education of another subject is ridiculous and doesn't quite sound believable. If it is true though, I'd complain to the principle and failing that, tell it to my parents then have them contact her and the principle. Confiscating something such as an iPod I can understand but a textbook or work I cant believe nor understand. A detention though I think would be fair especially if warned multiple times.
Many teachers I had in high-school would get annoyed if I was doing something else not related to that subject because they thought I was goofing off or doing something against the rules.
Some teachers also did the thing of threatening to give more work and it's a means to have the class focus on the tasks at hand and do as told, otherwise, you get more work to do. It's a childish way for maintaining conduct in a classroom when the class is towards the upper years of high-school but for lower years it's more suitable but still kind of childish because it wears away pretty fast. Overall, it's a kind of a dull way to show the teacher is in charge because the "punishment" is something one should be doing anyways (i.e. french work in a french class), hence, why I see it as a pretty silly way.
I also had teachers who would goof off and check facebook, play games on their phones and such but it was either during a test, quiz or while doing in-class work where the teacher is only needed for answering a question, so might as well do something to kill time. It's either that or mark assignments in my view so it's not something I have a problem with. If however the teacher is requested for assistance but wants to goof off rather than help, then that's when I get annoyed because their priority is to teach the students, not to exercise their thumbs on handheld games or on facebook.
You'll find in university, professors are nothing like this nor are the TA's.

Believe it or not, that's what she does. I never thought of the argument that she's "impeding my education". If I ever get caught *knock on wood* i'll try that argument. Detention still isn't justified, because i'm not distracting the class with my work. I'm simply doing what is more important to me. She shouldn't get her panties in a bunch over it.
Many teachers I had in high-school would get annoyed if I was doing something else not related to that subject because they thought I was goofing off or doing something against the rules. She knows we're not goofing off when we do other work. She sees another notebook or worksheet etc. out on the desk and flips shit over it. It drives me crazy.

Damn right it's childish. It just makes all of us in the class respect her less. No one really takes her seriously and she's a pretty bad teacher to begin with.

I just don't like how she can give us bullshit work to do while she plays games etc. and we can't do other work like she does. If she gives us early time to work on homework, that's cool, but I've got a more important assignment for another period that I could be working on. But NOOOO, that's not allowed in her classroom.
You'll find in university, professors are nothing like this nor are the TA's. Thank god. I can't wait for college, honestly. High school rocks as far as responsibility and not having legal ramifications for stuff, but I can't wait to be taken seriously in a university.

True you're not distracting others directly but by doing something else, even if it other course work, you are distracting others by showing that you're doing something else, which makes it easier for them to follow and do the same.

You're not in her head so you cannot say what she knows or thinks, only she can say that. It's always possible, from her view, you could be doing something else in a notebook other than coursework. Alternatively, the reason is you come to the french class to do french work, not some other work.

French class is for french work, if you've got something else in another course, you should have worked on it earlier. If everyone gets done their french work and there's still time to spare, then sure, work on your other stuff but if it's not done, then it's french work.

You have much more responsibility in university and are treated differently from high-school. Myself, I love university more than high-school, even if some courses in university I hated as well as hated the professor for that course. In university, during a lecture, you can doodle, chat on MSN, work on some other coursework, use VT chat, etc... and the professor doesn't make a fuss about it because since you (or your parents) paid, it's your problem and fault if you screw up due to goofing off. But if in a lab, doing other course work doesn't flow well, especially because you usually need to work in groups (for first-year and some second-year stuff), and people want to work with those who are good only.
Anyways, lol, you'll probably love university.

which is what she should do. listen to what she's saying. if you need to do something else then skip class and do it somewhere else. it's that simple.
usually listening to someone when they're teaching is a mark of respect. even if they're not teaching, i wouldn't go to football practice with a hockey stick and a puck.

lol, no you don't. you must still conform to general mores and what is expected of you in a school classroom.
for someone who gets As, you have a warped perception of respect and courtesy.
She'll start up the sarcasm generator all the time too. "If you guys need stuff to do, I can give you more work." "Maybe this class isn't hard enough for you guys, I can make it harder."
she sounds like a funny person.
