Okay,so I was reading an article about credit cards and teens, what age should they be given to us,etc.

Sorta. Parents should put a limit on the card, so they don't go spending more than they have.

I agree, somewhat. I believe it would be better to learn responsability rather than being imposed it.
Prepaid credit cards?I really don't know what that is, is it like cellphones cards?Excuse my ignorance.
Personally,as long as one can be trusted,I don't see why not. Mine is on my dad's name(I think it is called an extension,or something like that. I have asked for it since I was 13 and now I have got it.) and yes, I would love to go shopping and using it until I get to the limit but I have been taught to control myself.

Frankly I don't think kids need credit cards, if they deserve them and can use them responsibly then let them have it, besides that no.

I think there's a lower limit, such as a rather young age of 10 years old or so, whereby most kids in general at that age +/- a few years may either go on a wild spending spree or just not use it. An exact age I think would be decided solely on the child by the parents but even then, it should have a maximum spending limit and the parents can know the amount of money in the card. This is what I had at around Grade 11, my parents gave me a card and it had I think a $100 or $120 limit spending limit per day. I didn't use it that much, only for small purchases. Also, each time the print-out was mailed home, my parents wanted to see it to know how much I was spending and if I was going wild, they'd take it away from me, which I thought was quite fair.

I've got a debit/credit card. I've had in since I was 14. It's much easier for me to save money since I can't see it. I have hundreds of dollars in the bank because of it.

Debit card is one thing. But I don't think anyone should have a credit card. You forget about the actual money you have because you can buy whatever with the sipe of a card. And the interest rates are horrible.

MMM...Yeah,kind of. It's like,it takes all guilt out of your mind(it does for me), I mean if I had to buy something worth $300 with actual cash I might hesitate(unless,I really like that something, but anyway), with credit card I don't actually realise I'm spending money. I never spend much anyway, but I spend more than if I didn't have it. And being offered to buy "On 3 payments without interest rates" just makes it easier. But I still find it useful and wouldn't like to lose it.

I dont think any "kid" should have a credit card. You can have a credit card when you are old enough to apply and get approved on your own, in your name - not mine.
I can see a savings account that I have control of and a debit/checking account when the child is old enough to work.

Teenagers don't need credit cards. What do they need that there parents can't provide anyway?

American Express payed my mom $200 for using their card. What's wrong with that?

I enjoy having a debit card because it's less to carry around and can be useful if cash isn't accepted, like buying things from an airline or over the internet. My debit cards are rechargeable, but I don't have more than $70 on each, so I won't get out of hand and spend a lot.

Where do you get your weed? If someone asked me for the money for my weed and I pulled out a credit card.....
They would think I was retarded.

A debit card would be useful if a kid has money stored in a bank...wouldn't see the point for a credit card until you're living independently.
The problem with debit cards is that banks will now allow you to overdraw, and then charge you outrageous interest over what you do overdraw. Just gotta teach people responsible spending habits.

I meant without the credit card. Read what i quoted and read my post :P They use whatever money their given to do that anyway sometimes, withdrawing money from a credit card at an atm is going to be no different.

I got my first debit card when I was about 15 or 16. I think its a great way to start out and learn the basics of banking and money management.

No.
Teenagers may be more likely to use it impulsively, therefore they could end up with a lot of debt on their hands.
Cards are for responsible adults, but then again, not all adults are responsible, I think most teenagers are less so though.
