Alright guys, i'm 15 and have a sort of driving "addiction". My parents have caught me once taking the car out and nothing really changed. I still take the car out regularly (sneaking out, etc.). I'm not a bad driver by any means, so getting pulled over isn't really a big deal.

Now, the problem. I don't get my license for another 5 months or so, and my dad got another car that I'm supposedly going to be driving then. However, he's hidden the second set of keys. Any ideas as to where they are? And does anyone else love driving like I do?

This thread seems like it's on the line of promoting illegal behavior..

well, i have to ere on the side of the law. you should not be driving at all, and your parents should not let you drive, wether you are a good driver or not. the point is, it's against the law, and anything that's against the law is wrong. just wait until you get your license, or you may get arrested before you get the chance.

I didn't intend to promote anything...? I was just wondering if anyone out there loves driving like I do and if anyone could give me some ideas on where keys are hidden? Let's not go overboard here...

To each his own. I don't believe that one day and a small plastic card changes much in one's driving ability, but you can think that if you want. FYI, the law doesn't actually determine what is right or wrong. Head on over to the drugs and meds section for more fun chances to lecture people on breaking the law...

Thanks for the laugh :D I've searched everywhere I can think of but haven't found them yet...

Haha never thought of in the car itself...although the car is locked so they'd be hard to get to. That's funny, my friends say the same thing!

thanks for the help.

so basically, you just posted here so you could hear what you wanted to? no, i'm here to tell you whats right.

so you think i'm lecturing you? i'm trying to protect you from a night in jail and a $500 fine. Whether you think it's right or wrong, it's still against the law, and it's still going to cost you. So go ahead and steal that car, but don't come crying to me when your own parents sue you for theft and have you thrown in juvie.

good luck

Dude, let's calm down here. Our views on what determines right or wrong are very different. You think that laws determine what's right or wrong, and I don't believe that.

Also, where I live, you don't get a night in jail and a $500 fine. You get sent home to your parents the first time and a possible postponement of your license until 18.

As for the lawsuit, my parents wouldn't gain a thing for suing me. As a minor, it'd be a ridiculous lawsuit that would probably be laughed at, especially considering my perfect track record with the law.

Normally, I do not like to be blunt with my advice on here, but your situation is a pretty open/shut case: your parents do not want you to be doing something, and you need to respect their wishes. I think that instead of using your energy trying to violate your parents' trust, which is what you are doing by basically stealing their keys, you should be upfront with them about your feelings and see if you can go out driving with them daily to see if that can reduce your desire to drive. It is not right to go complete against your parents here, and if they cannot trust you with this, then how can they trust you with bigger things. Basically, don't disrespect your parents and find something else to do with your time. The car belongs to your parents; they are responsible for your actions; and it is not up to you as to whether or not you can drive as it is up to your parents.

I am inclined to agree with you, and I would add that the biggest cost you will have to face is the loss of your parents' trust. It is never good to do things behind your parents' back.

You really have to develop some self control here as you are not always going to get things your way in life. It really is not a good sign that your parents have to hide the keys on you, and I think you should take a step back and instead of asking us how to find your parents' keys you should be asking how to develop self control and how to be a trustworthy person who knows limits.

I think you are missing the point here as whether or not one agrees with the law or if the law is not reasonable, the reality is the law is there and you are subject to it. I do not know in what country you live, but assuming you are in America, then I can pretty much guarantee you that if something happens (such as someone driving into you), then your parents' insurance might not pay for repairs to the car. One would need to read the contract and riders for insurance policies, but if you are driving the car and you are not a legal driver, then the insurance company might not be liable for damage.

Secondly, if someone else drove into you, then how would you handle the situation? It doesn't matter how careful you are as accidents happen out of the blue many times without any warning. Also, acts of nature can cause issues as all it takes is a deer to run in front of you to crash the car.

Finally, the issue here is that there are rules which everyone in society needs to follow whether or not the rules are rational. All because you have a driving addiction does give you the right to go out on the road because you think you are ready to drive. Until you get a license from whatever authority in your area issues them, then you have no business being behind the wheel plain and simple.

Haha what's a demo derbie? never heard of it.

A demolition derby is an event where people take junk cars and basically drive them into one another. Whichever car which is still running by the end of the event is the winner.
