I feel alone. There is this place in me that feels hollow and I can't shake the feeling. I have some friends, a lot actually, but I just don't seem to care trying. I feel anxious and I feel like I can't trust anyone. Ever. I have never been diagnosed with depression, but I think I have it. I've tried to get my parents to test me but they think it's stupid and I have nothing to be depressed about. They no nothing about what goes on. I probably sound very emo, no offense to those who are, but I think it's true. I don't tell them anything, and don't feel like trying. I need someone to talk to, but no one listens.

Chase - I'm glad you decided to reach out on here. I have difficulty opening up to others in real life as well, but all those self-imposed barriers start to seem much more weakened in the relative anonymity of the internet.
My parents, too, never shook their dismissive attitude towards my experiences. Some people just won't get it - no matter how much effort one puts forth - and sometimes, it means you will just have to learn to cope without their support. Uncooperative parents can serve as a huge inconvenience, especially when seeking professional help, but there are usually ways to get around that. Approaching a school counsellor, or an adult friend, may be a place to start.
If you don't feel ready to take that step yet - that's okay, be patient with yourself. The experience of confiding in others, even in a place like this, will help you get in touch with that inner strength and confidence needed to do so in the near future.
I'm always around if you ever need someone to talk to in private. All the best to you.

I know how you feel. I have "friends" too but i could never tell them about any of my problems. I never tell my parents anything because i can't trust them. So i have no one to listen to me either. By posting on here, you are taking the first step to feeling less alone. One thing that has helped me most when feeling like this is all the people here on vt because they listen so keep posting :)
Pm if you want to talk :)

talk to someone at school, not a schoolmate, they have counselors for a reason. you may have some issues that need to be resolved. they're there to listen to what you have to say. if things really bother you, im sure your parents really care, so talk to them. get yourself the help you need. i've been depressed my entire life, from what i can remember, i chose to talk to friends, which only helps so much. never wanted to get on anti-depressants, so i did my best not to. in all reality i probably should be on them =P but as crappy as i feel and as lonely as i am, i still just think about there's more people out there with worse problems than i have, and they still go through it day after day, kinda makes me feel a bit better (not that they have so much trouble but that i'm so lucky) hope that helps you mate

Dude, first of all i am more than glad that you wrote and found VT. Best place i can think of. but i suggest you finding a friend that is worth having. I mean this might sound impossible for you . But most people have close or best friends. I used to be in your position when i was a kid in elementary. Then later on in life , i though i would never meet a kid ALOT like me, we turned out to be very good close best friends. You just need someone to talk to .. I am sure people will listen . Just don't give up. Live up your life ! :] If you need anyone at all or problems to ask , i would be more than happy to help you out in a PM or something. Take care.
