So i have thought about suicide before, but never seriously attempted it. I am a self harmer trying to stop and i have taken minor overdoses in the past. I am not considering suicide at the moment.

Basically my dream started on a really pretty beach. It was sandy, warm and had a really bright sunset. There was a cliff sticking out into the sea with a white house on it. The beach was totally calm. People, such as my bf, kept coming and holding my hand. Usually i would do anything to spend time with him but here i just wanted to be alone. It just didn't seem "right" to share the beach with anyone else. When i wanted him to leave he just disappeared into thin air. Then i realised that there was nothing else in the world except this beach. I couldn't move anywhere else, i was trapped. I carried on walking for a bit and then very calmly lay down, where the tide was coming in. I knew what i was doing i knew the tide would come in and i would die. I just lay there calmly, waiting. I didn't see myself die but i knew that was coming and i knew thats what i was aiming for in the dream.

What i want to know is why i had a dream like that :S Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, usually dreaming about suicide is your minds way of telling you that you're upset with yourself over something. It can be anything small or large, but you're feeling aggression or upset towards yourself. If so, you just gotta work out what it is. :hugs:

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to add, that dreams about suicide can also be linked to some sort of addiction, like self harm, and is a marker along the path to recovery. Sorry I'm very vague, trying to remember stuff people told me a while ago.

dreams are dreams. they could mean nothing, they could mean something. dream interpretation is a very VERY complex and inexact art. suicide can be a sign of something being wrong in life. or that you are upset. or that you were thinking about it before bed. or that you had a ham and cheese sandwich. i advise you to let it go and move on.

Keep in mind that more often than not, a dream will mean absolutely nothing or have any relevance to real life. If this does concern you though, I suggest you speak to a professional such as a doctor about it.

Exactly, i mean some people dream a ton, hardly, or none at all. They all dont have to all have a meaning in life , it all can just be nothing. Might have been a small nightmare or something, Just maybe something upsetting up , something you ate, or maybe just something random and out of the blue.
