Spiders?

When I check who's online, in the list comes all the registered members who are online at that time. I also see guests, I understand what that is. But in the list is also names like MSN spider etc. What are these spiders?:confused:

Spiders find information on websites to display when someone searches for something on a search engine, like MSN, Google etc.. Like if I were to Google "Hilton Hotels", a Google Spider would go to the "Hilton" website, and many others, and find stuff to display as my search results. It's the same for every search engine.
