k so i need to get a physical for sports next year but i'm scared of getting a boner when the do the testicular hernia test....like what exactly do they do or how can i keep this "test" from happening.... also how would i know if the doctor is taking advantage? HELP!

The testicular exam shouldn't take too long at all. My doctor just has me lay down on the bench thing and just puts the gown to the side and feels for lumps. Not a big deal. Its normally over before I even really have time to think about it. Ive never got a boner during the exam. The fact that my doctor is kinda a big turn off (old-ish guy) probably helps.
If you at any time feel uncomfortable with it tell the doctor to stop.

The test really is not a big deal at all, and it is over in probably less than a minute. There is no bigger turn off than the smell of anti septic and a latex glove, and it really is going to take a lot to get an erection in such a situation. Even in the unlikely event that you do get an erection, it is not a big deal as it is not like such a thing has not happened to the doctor. Things will go by so fast that you probably will not even get a chance to get an erection.

The test takes about 1 minute or so (can take longer if you're a younger teen as they go more in depth and view the status of you in puberty).

They'll grip your testicle(s) and roll it in their hand to check for cancer of the testes. Then they do the turn your head and cough...then they feel in your "inguinal area" which is behind your testicles almost to your anus. That is a spot for hernias. Some doctors do this at the same time they do the turn your head and cough.

There is a 99% chance you will get an erection. Almost everyone does. The doctor knows it'll happen. They won't judge. They see your testicles/penis no different than they see your arms (just another body part). Doctors aren't there to take "advantage" of you. Most doctors require either a parent or a nurse/another doctor in the room while they do this to avoid the "he took advantage of me lawsuit".

I suppose you could wear one of those patient gowns available at most doctor's offices. If you physical is at a clinic of some sort, then the robes will be readily available upon request.

It really is not a big deal as you are in a private room with the doctor, and the whole process is really quick. I would not make such a big deal about getting naked as everyone has to do it at some point if they do a physical with a doctor. Again, you are going to be with professionals who are not there to judge you.

It will just be a quick check. The doctor will ask for you to pull your pants down then grap one ball have you caugh then do the other one. It happens really quick.
Theres not much you can do to not take that test since it is part of the physical.
I wouldn't worry about getting a boner. Thy are doctors. They see it everyday and they would understand.

99% chance of getting an erection? I guess i'm in the minority, and i've had a lot of sports physicals. For me, this has always taken less than about 20 seconds, and yeah they do press above your dick and make you cough. I wouldn't sweat it.

They are needed regularly (annually, biannually). Some states have laws requiring them just to be in school. While others say you need them just for sports.

You would def know if the doctor was taking advantage, and they need to do it. The doctor puts his hand near your sac and has you turn your head one way and cough then the other way. They also look for lumps and depending on your age, they also look to see if your developing right and dont worry if you get a boner, they are professionals and they know it can happen if your nervous or it could be the fact that someones hand in on your junk. It'll be fine.
