Why do we need to wait till we have twenty five posts untill we can send private messages? I allready have a couple, even know I need two more posts. Shouldn't it be after your first post you can send messages? Thanx

I guess it is so you don't get a lot of spammers? I don't know really but that's my guess

It's that way there isn't new people just coming on here and PMing people. You have to earn your way. Also a way of preventing people from getting annoying right from the start

It's so new members don't go around PMing people and asking them questions like, "Hey man how big iz ur penis?", or "hey man ya wana cam wit me?". New members abused the ability to PM people, so they got it taken away. And even if one signs up to here for that sole purpose, they at least have to post stuff and work for that ability to PM people.

What's so important that you need to pm someone as soon as you join? If you need help you can still pm a staff member but besides that just wait till 25 posts it's not even that much.

There you go ^^
It's been abused before this was implemented so it's better like this.

Even with this rule implemented I still get messages from new members saying stuff like, "Hay wnt 2 trade pics". This rule helps decrease that.

Then report it and let the staff deal with it.

Its a pain really. It amuses me that so many people still post replies like "PM me if you have any questions" in the introduction threads when the OP cant PM even if they want to. But I understand why the rule was introduced and I think its here to stay.

I'm new so I don't know so much but to me it just seems so people can't make fake accounts and use them just to spam people/message people.

So pedophiles don't try to PM girls and get nude photos of them.
Even though the rules there, those pedophiles will still just post random one worded replies to get their post count up.

Its not down to that. Its mainly to prove VT Is a public forum, in which we encourage public discussion. The PM system has been abused in the past. We see it as a service we can't scrap though so we're having to put tighter restrictions on new users that do sign up for stuff like that. However it also gets people to post, which unfortunately seems to be spam half the time.

Honestly, it is to attempt to cut down on the people that join our site just to "hook up" with other people.
So what our policy now is that you have to have more than 25 posts and if members send incriminating messages, the staff will act on them.
