K what i want to do is back up all of my stuff; Programs, documents, ext. And since i cant copy most of my programs while windows is running b/c windows is using them. So what i need is a free backup utility that i can pout on dvd or cd and boot from so i can backup my computer there. I know there are ones like norton gost, but that cost money and i am a cheap bastered:D .

I'm not sure if you would want something like this, but you could boot to the recovery console of Windows XP Professional and use the xcopy function (use xcopy /? to view it's switches). Then you could copy all the files to a new directory and then zip that directory into 700MB archive files and then burn them. Buuut... problem with this is that there's no boot up for it. You might want to try and use Windows XP's Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It's located in start >> Accessories >> System Tools. I haven't really used it yet, though I have skimmed over it and I wish I used it so many times where I didn't know about it.
