View Full Version : Exercise Addiction?

I have no idea if this is in the right place or not, but this is where I thought it'd go.
I think I may have a problem with exercising. I have to exercise every day. It's not a desire, it's a need. generally I have swim practice for two hours. Every day. If there isn't practice I'll ask my dad to take me to the gym. When I'm at home, I do extra little exercise stuff in my spare time, in addition to my practices and work outs. And when I get my license, I'll probably start going to the gym and going to practice on the same days. My question is: Is this too much? Or is what I'm doing normal?

You may have a habitual addiction for exercise, which in all honesty doesn't sound to terribly horrible. You're compelled to take really good care of your body, bummer.
Would you say your exercising schedule is getting in the way of the rest of your life? Do you socialize with people your own age?

I socialize when I have time. School mainly. Occasionally dances which I like because dancing is good exercise. Other than that I don't do too much with them. Every now and again we'll go to the movies or something. But probably not even monthly.

i'd say you probably have too much energy to spend, either you could be drinking too much coffee, or eating too much sugar, but i'm not a doctor, so... well, at least its exercising not drugs :)

"Too much", when it comes to exercising, is really up to you. If it's not intruding on other parts of your life, I don't see any reason why it should be a problem to exercise regularly. I tend to need to work out every day or I feel restless and like I haven't done enough that day. But that's not a problem for me.
It's sort of like being "addicted" to eating. Eating and exercise are both normal and healthy parts of life, so as long as other things are not being affected negatively, don't worry about it.

If you're weight training every day then you're doing yourself no good. Doing a few weight lifting sessions a week plus cardio frequently is fine. The only way that you'll overtrain is if you aren't smart with how often you weight train, and if you undereat. Not getting the right nutrients and the right amount of them will hinder you.

I would kill to be in your position xD LOL
I get bored when i excersize, guh...
Well just use that energy you have stored inside on other things. Like hang out with friends/family more, get a job or work ? , find a hobby. things like those. But i agree, its not bad at all . You are just spending your time on it. I mean it's not like you are doing NOTHING at all for all this time. It's goo you are doing this in my view.
