If I were a princess
and he was my knight,
I'd dance at a ball
from noon until midnight.
But i'm not a princess
and I haven't been saved.
There's no pink love potion,
or dragons to be slayed.
Magic spells exist in dreams,
and Beasts wouldn't survive.
God mothers don't grant wishes,
and the dead don't come alive.
Pirate ships and treasure chests
have long sense been outdone.
Pixie dust doesn't make us fly
and when we're scared, we run.
My world isn't a fantasy,
I'm just your average girl.
But every once in a while
I give my dress a whirl.
My white knight didn't stick around
and the clock is well past twelve.
So before I step back into life,
I put my fairy tale back on the shelf.
