OK, I understand the gist of reputation, such as +/- reputation, points etc, but what is rep power, how do you earn it and how does it work? I couldn't find anything in the manual.

Cheers

If you see a post you approve of or disapprove of you can click the scales at the bottom left of the post and choose to add positive or negative rep and you can leave a note with it if you want.
rep can be given out by any member. it's just members opinions of some of your posts.

if you click that, it'll show you multiple threads made on the topic "rep"

Well basically, tbh it's not really anything to worry about.
+ rep = good
- rep = bad

+ is green
- is red
neutral is grey

You can read a summary of the rep system here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_reputation).

Your rep power is how many points get given to the recipient when you give +rep to a post. If you give -rep they lose half of your rep power from their total rep points.

Your rep power is based on several things, if I've got it right the following things count towards you rep power:-

your rep points
your post count
length of time on the site
