Excuse me because we think its cool?!? We don't do it because we think it's cool thank you very much. It's how we make it through the day, how we express the hurt and pain we feel inside. Not because we perceive it to be cool. Don't get me wrong a certain percentage do do it for attention but that's not the majority of people on here. We don't need to be preached to.

but i mean, some people do... they need to be told this. but i NEVER did it to be cool. i'm well aware that it isn't cool. tell them that it's not cool, but don't tell us! we already know this, because most people on this forum have experienced it, so we don't need to be told.

Yep. It's soo cool to leave marks on my body that will never go away. So that when I look at my arms or my stomach I'll be reminded of my weakness. Cool. Exactly.

I have cut since i was 7 or 8 and tbh back then im pretty sure i thought i was one of the only people doing it. sure some people that cut may do it because they think it's cool but the majority don't. for most it is so much more. it can be pain, release, relief, sadness, and that's only a fraction. i believe you made this post with the best of intentions. but i think you should maybe have phrased it differently because not all who self harm thinks it cool. but a thoughtful post towards those who do just do it because they think it's cool

i never did it for atteniton but to cope with sevre anxiety, sevre depression, sexual abuse, no friends, family problems, death, when i'd go completely numb, when i'd have a bad anxiety attack, when i'd hear voices or hallucinate, when i was abused by people around me physically and emotionally... and also complete aloneness when i had no body... but with all the above i have foud ways to cpe so after 7 years of Self Injury i am getting away from the addiction :)

it is a coping system and everyone's reasons are different and though we all know it isn't good it doesn't stop it from feeling right as such apologies if that may not be the right way of putting it. everyone copes differently and this is some peoples way. i know that it works for i to have done it

Dude, WTF ? :what: Nevermind this, i really don't think they actually do it because it's cool... As the other members before me said, they do it because of depression, loss, loneliness and so on... I understand them, but i can't understand you, nor your point with this post. They know it's not cool, and they know it's bad for their health, but still after a few cuts it becomes an addiction.
