why does he care now?

ok so my dad left me and my mom when i was six and lived about 3 hours away he got married to this woman i dont like at all and didnt tell me until after the wedding then maybe 4 years ago they both came to vist me and told me she was pregnant then 2 years ago he called my moms cell phone and told her to tell me he was moving to colorado the next day last august i went to vist his parents and he called and wanted to talk to me when i got on the phone he started crying and said he misses me so much and wishes i would be part of his family that was the first time we had talked in over 2 years he never calls me and i dont even know his number sometimes i will get a card on my birthday or holidays and they always say i love and miss you so much and wish you could meet your little sister and be part of my family and i dont know why he cares now he never did before

Just because he wasn't around doesn't mean he didn't care. Ask your mom for his number and call him sometime. Ask him why he left; why he's suddenly trying to bring you back into his life. And even if he's screwed up in the past, he obviously cares very much about you now. I think you should at least get his side of the story rather than just assuming he's this jerk who never gave a shit about you. There are always outside circumstances that we don't know about.
