My favorite band is Bullet for my valentine. I found out about them from Guitar Hero :P I kept playing the same song over and over, then I searched their songs on youtube and was hooked.

When I was a small child, I hear like three Iron Maiden songs on the radio and then Rock Band made me like them. I asked my guitar teacher about them, and he gave me a greatest hits album from his iTunes library and whatnot. I then continued to buy more songs and lo' and behold, I love them. Also, one of my friends on Xbox LIVE liked them already and stuff, so we would always talk about them and stuff.

I usually find out about the bands I listen to from searching Youtube and listening to the radio. If i heard a song I liked, I'd write down the artists name and look them up.

Found out Nine Inch Nails when I was listening to the radio at about six years old. Imagine a six year old singing that stuff :P
I found out about Porcupine Tree on a special place that only music lovers like.

Radio and my father mostly. The radio was pretty much my earliest source...anything classic they'd play and I fell in love with it. My father is my entire source. All the vinyl and CDs are all I'll need for my life. I also found out about Gorillaz from watching a video of theirs on FUSE one day and was renewed in interest about a few months ago.

I always had a thing for Nelly Furtado ever since I'm Like A Bird went on the airwaves in 2000, but my obsession started on United Airlines :P I was flying to Washington DC and I put on the radio and "Say It Right" was playing. Hooked instantly <33

My mom was always obsessed with Bon Jovi, and I grew up around it, so that's the reason I'm 100% obsessed with them too. : D

I do the same. When I watch Kerrang! or Scuzz on the TV I always write down the artists name. I do not want to make the mistake of missing out on a great band.

You guys have no idea what great music is. Dream Theater all the way.

Nigga please. We all have our opinions on what great music is. I believe that great music is British progressive rock, classic rock, and classic pop. You obviously don't believe that, thus our views differ. One does not have better taste than another in music.

My favourite band is Angels & Airwaves - I was a big fan of Blink 182 so when they split uo I followed the bands that they formed and I just began to love AVA

Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave the room, sir. Since, sir, Dream Theater is a good band, sir.

I disagree. I've taken my fair share of listening as I do with all bands I come across. Listen, think about it, criticism/praise. That's the route I take, dear Watson :P

Sir, my name is not Watson, sir, and you know that, sir. I'm going to disagree with your hatred of Dream Theater, sir, since, sir, they are a good band, sir.

Sir, please could you point me in the direction of good Dream Theater songs, sir? They are one of the bands I tell myself to check out but I forget to. Thanks, dear sir. Sir, you shall receive +rep if I like the band.

I love this 'Sir' stuff :D.

Oh and I have 2 favourite bands. My favourite band is Glamour of the Kill. I found them as their song 'A Hope In Hell' was on Scuzz. I liked a lot and found more of their songs. The other band is Metallica (or the mighty 'Tallica as I call them). TV. Make from that what you will.

I've heard of most of my favourite bands/musicians from friends or cousins who are much older than I am, or where I've just searched around for other similar-sounding bands/musicians.

So about 5 years ago my step-dad had this hard drive that had 1000s of random albums from every genre.
I listened to Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) by the Wu Tang Clan and my entire view on music was changed.
Ive never heard such raw and thought provoking lyricism in my life.

I played stricken by disturbed on GH3. I didnt realise it was disturbed for a while, and it got stuck into my head because i was trying to 100% it. Then i borrowed the album off my friend to put on my ipod.
The next time i was in town, "The sickness" and "Indestructable" were on sale at 2 for £10 as opposed to £15 each, so i bought them and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then when i was in florida, i saw "Believe" for $9 and i bought it, since it was the only album i didnt have :D

I learned about Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros from the local indie, folk, and world station. I heard the song "Home" and loved it, so I looked it up later. I also learn about many artists from Pandora. That's how I found Sufjan Stevens.

My favorite band at the moment (it changes quite often) probably, Jason Mraz (even though he's not really a band lol more of just one guy)
I found out about him through my cousin. One day both of out families were on vacation together sitting around a fire playing guitar. At one point Phil asked me if I knew the song, "I'm Yours." I said no so he decided to teach it to me. Once he taught me the song I realized I liked it a lot lol, and I asked him about more of his songs he told me about "Lucky." then I found more from there.
