Pokemon Movies

I'm watching the original Pokemon again, and I wondered if anyone knew how the movies fit into the series? Anyone be able to help me?

the first movie is right after ash gets his 8th and final badge and right before he goes to the indigo league for the tournament

umm idk about the others...the one with lugia is after the indigo league and the orange islands...right before ash goes into the Jhoto region

other then that i haven't really kept up with the movies

all i know is that a storm randomly got Ash entangled with some researchers that made a mutated Mew

I dont think they do fit in with the series. But has anyone else noticed the epic graphics and detail used in the movies compared to the series? Its even obvious from the first movie

I think a lot of them are kind of non-canon on my opinion, but, well. This wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. I think Dawn recently pulled out an item obtained in a movie in the anime... But, well. I sometimes like to pretend everything after Ash coming to Sinnoh hasn't ever actually happened. The classics are SO much better. And they aren't going ape sh*t crazy censoring now.

I mean, it's bad when you hear Ash say 'Shut up' and go "Oh, wow." because you're shocked at his surprisingly colorful choice in words. xD

I haven't paid much attention to Pokemon recently though but I felt like the first 8 movies(I stopped after that one) didn't really fit into the storyline but they could if you wanted to think about them as part of the same storyline. I always thought of them as non-canon.
