Has anybody here on VT been prescribed accutane? My dermatologist said he wants to put me on it, because like 3-4 other attempts failed. Is there anything I should know other than the "don't give blood, don't get a girl pregnant, report extreme side affects, etc." warnings? Thanks!

My advice is that the one thing you don't really expect is the dryness inside your nose. I ended up carrying around vaseline just to moisturize up there or I would constantly be crusted up there, it was kind of gross. Also, my normal chapstick was nowhere near enough, and again, I ended up using Vaseline for my lips too.
Otherwise, the only big one you're missing is don't drink to extreme excess. But tbh, I still drank lots while on it and didn't drop dead. So you just need to be careful.

1. Do not take vitamin supplements containing vitamin A while you are taking isotretinoin.
2. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to isotretinoin or to parabens

Thank you Google. ;)

Big thing you need to know is that your lips will dry out.... Badly. To the point of cracking and bleeding. Quite annoying really.
Best thing I found for it was, a petroleum based ointment called 'Aquaphor', worked wonders.
Other than that, no, there's really nothing else major that you need to worry about.

I was on it and I think it did miracles for me. It permanently shrinks your sebaceous, or oil producing, glands. It is true that it will cause your lips and the inside of your nose to become very dry, and Vaseline will work, although I was prescribed some kind of cream. Just make sure you moisturize your face everyday with a noncomdegenic lotion, meaning that it won't clog your pores. It should say that on the box.
