My heart was to be caught in the combines of love,
Ripped apart within the confines of that machine-
'Cause that's how it worked,
Like a heartless machine,
Like an automated assembly line.
Find love. Fall in love. Feel loved.
Become fragile. Become alone. Become broken.
Repeat until nothing is left.
I watched in dread as the combine approached,
Reaping through the field of hearts.
I watched as it devoured all in it's path,
Watched as it loomed ever closer.
I watched it's cold red eyes gaze upon me
And I knew the malice held within those steel confines.
I tried to run out of it's path, I tried to get away.
As I struggled away I felt the pull back lash out
And saw for the first time the shackles that bound me.
Binding me in place to await the combine,
To wait for my heart's final hour,
To wait to love nevermore.
Shackled in place, hoplessly damned to fate
I awaited the combines malevolent approach.
And the roar of the motors grew,
And the fear in my heart grew,
And I surrendered hope.
I closed my eyes and waited for the blades
To lacerate my racing heart away.
I closed my eyes and the roar ceased,
The gentle breeze rolled in.
I opened my eyes and the combine was gone,
Opened my eyes and she had come,
Opened my eyes to love again.
Ripped apart within the confines of that machine-
'Cause that's how it worked,
Like a heartless machine,
Like an automated assembly line.
Find love. Fall in love. Feel loved.
Become fragile. Become alone. Become broken.
Repeat until nothing is left.
