Well next year I'm going to go out for baseball for the first time. I am not exactly fit or in shape but I have one hell of a pitch and I can swing a bat pretty hard but I need to be able to play outfield as well. Also on another note I'm going for the track team this year so anyone wanna help me out with some advice on what would help me get into more shape to be able to run faster because well lets face it both sports require quite abit of running.
All advice would be helpful
Sincerely,
Seeker

Well I'd eat plenty of good foods, your daily requirements.
Healthy is everything.
Drink loads of water and exercise.
Carbohydrates are good for energy and to run you need them,
Pasta
Bread
Rice
etc, they are release their energy slowly and this will help you conserve it well for when you need it most.
Pm me if you need more :)

The best way to learn to run faster is to... run.
Specifically for the relatively short distance bursts of quick speed you need to play outfield, I'd imagine sprint or shuttle work of some kind would be very effective, as well as longer distance/duration work for overall cardio endurance and also weight loss if you need that to be in better shape.

Yeah, I'm on track and you gotta run miles a day to be sure you're in top shape to make the team. Getting in shape is easy and only takes a week or two if you're committed.

Weights, sprints, good healthy diet, water, and obstacle course type stuff for coordination I have found to all be helpful.
I'll be playing varsity baseball for my highschool team this Spring and thats the stuff I always concentrate on. I always run and lift weights as well as watch my diet year round. Some good music to pump you up for a game always helps me to kick ass and take names on the field.
I play primarily SS but sometimes play 3B and pitch as well. I love playing SS though.
Dont forget to always wear your cup too man, I've seen far to many dudes get hit in the junk and they aren't wearing protection.

Talk to your coach. My easy suggestion is just a quick run.
Be sure to walk quickly a little, then stretch, then do the running. Don't stretch first.
The BIGGEST part of being in shape and being healthy is your eating style and habits. The healthier you eat, the easier it will be to go out for a run.

For playing outfield, waiting a second after the ball is hit before you start running. some players run as soon as the ball's hit even though they haven't read the ball completely. take some time to find out where the ball goes then run as hard as you can.
