View Full Version : Is it really bad?

So recently I've been eating less, because I'm tired of feeling fat all the time. But I have two friends who tell me I need to eat more because they think six or seven hundred isn't enough calories in a day (I've also been obsessively counting the calories in everything I eat). But I think that since I swim enough that it burns about that many calories it's alright. Because breaking even shouldn't do me harm, right?
Do I sound crazy...?

Really 600 calories is very less. It is not that anyone can eat any amount of burgers, pizzas etc and then do exercise and stay slim. You have to eat a balanced, nutritious diet and then do regular exercise to stay healthy.

You're supposed to get, on average, 2000 calories a day.
No one can tell you how to eat, your body is yours, but in my opinion (and feel free to disagree of course :)) counting calories and things isn't a good idea. Because then you become obsessed as you say and it's really not about that, it's about being healthy.
I'd recomend 3-5 meals a day (If five, obviously they aren't too large) and lots of fruits and things for snacks.
Keep your energy levels up. Drink plenty water, it helps bait off hunger as well, and do lots of exercise especially if you feel you've over endulged. That's something I ALWAYS suggest, never starve yourself or make yourself throw up - if you think you've went overboard or eaten too many calories or whatever, get mad about exercise and burn it off. :D

I'd see a doctor, nutritionist and dietitian if you want to lose weight. PROPERLY.

Yes, you do sound like you're not thinking this through particularly well. Breaking even is eating 0 calories for an entire day. That is not good for you. Weight loss needs to be done properly or it is extremely unhealthy.
