This year, I'm going into Sixth Form.
However, I can't decide between Philosophy & Ethics or Media Studies. :/ :/
I'm really stuck on which option to take so I would like to hear your opinions on which one seems better - that would help me a hell of a lot.
All suggestions are welcome...thank you! :)

Wow, you're only 16, didnae know that! Taking into account the potential futures of each one and input from my friends in both subjects i'd say take philosophy & ethics, it's a lot more boring but it is better for your future than just running all over recording for a terrible music video :).
Thats just my personal opinion though, try and go to an open evening and chat to both teachers, see what they thing and what your think of them, they'll definitely help you more than I possibly could :)

O_O Holy fuck, im older than Marcie?!
Well, i started Sixth form last september. Took Psychology and Sport A-Levels. Psychology quite honestly was extremely difficult if you have no idea what you're going into. I had to drop it about a month ago because of the combination of amount of time i missed/Difficulty. Take into consideration what you want to be after college, thats what's helped me choose this year. With the two options you want, its deciding on what sort of area your interested in more. But more importantly how hard of a worker are you? I know philosophy requires some serious effort right from the start, mostly essay based studies are included. However Media Studies is quite relaxed, you can have quite a good time completing the coursework for it and you can also do bits in your spare time. Both are quite good for making new friends though, their both quite group orientated from my understanding. Like Amanda said, go to the open evening and look around both of the departments, talking to some of the students may be extremely helpful as well.

To be perfectly honest, the subjects you take at A level are not fantastically important when it comes to universities. The most important is the grade so the most important criteria for choosing your subjects should be how much you enjoy them. The more you enjoy a subject, the more motivated you will be and so your grades will be better. Some courses will require one of them to be of a specific type (e.g. scientific) though.
The leap from GCSEs to A levels is the largest in the education system. Even going from A level to an undergraduate degree isn't as tough. So, year 12 is guaranteed to be difficult.
My advice would be to consider (a) what you want to do after 6th form, (b) what sounds like you'll enjoy it more and (c) what transferable skills each subject gives you.

Thanks for the helpful replies. :)
I've asked around - and I've even posted this same question on The Student Room forum - and I have recieved mixed responses.
I have chosen to go along with Philosophy; I'm really interested in taking some sort of Law, Criminology, English or Psychology degree at uni, so I thought I would gain more out of a Philosophy course than I would Media Studies.
It may seem like a harder A Level, but I'm willing to put in the work and get a high grade, if it will give me a better chance of achieving my goal. :)

I don't know about how it relates to the others. But knowledge in philosophy would be good for you if you were to do a psychology degree since the historical basis of the subject lies in early philosophical theories/ideas.

I had already decided that I was going to take English Lang+Lit, History and Health & Social Care, so I thought Philosophy would probably tie in a lot better with those than Media Studies would, if I ever actually wanted to take those courses in uni.

I get bored in most subjects, aha. :P
I find Media Studies extremely easy, although I think Philosophy is one of my stronger areas, and I find it interesting - but it's just all the tedious amounts of essays and exams that I know I'm going to have to face. D:
