On our profiles? They are possible, but these were disabled because too many people abused them in the past, from my understanding.

VM's have their drawback, and are hard to moderate especially on a large site. Unless the mods plan on going through each and every users profile on a regular basis, i would keep away from it. Just because people tend to abuse some stuff, and then others are afraid to click the report button.

They can be on, they've been enabled and disabled a few times because of vast amounts of abuse.

Visitor messages arent really about talking they are more like leaving comments on myspace or facebook.

I wasn't around for - or wasn't paying attention to - the massive abuses that occurred last time VMs were turned on. All I can say on the subject is that I find them useful and fun, and in a more important argument for their existence they have the paradoxical effect of bring a lot of otherwise illicit activity that might go unnoticed on the site into plain view.

Of course, if people here aren't mature enough to handle the privilege as it seems by what has been said here they aren't, they won't be coming back. Shame.

My guesses, spamming, advertising, harassment, etc. I see it on other sites, and I report it. BUT, most people don't report things when they see them.

Yes, this is the way it is on TC. I like the VM system, but they are difficult, in my opinion, to moderate. Besides, Maverick has already said that they won't be coming back to VT.
